After being eliminated in the group stage for two consecutive tournaments (2018 and 2022), the German national team returned to the knockout rounds of the 2026 World Cup hoping to regain their former glory. However, the four-time champions continued to disappoint.
Germany's most recent World Cup victory came in 2014. Currently, Italy has the same record as Germany (4 titles), but they have failed to qualify for the last three consecutive World Cups.
Currently, the Brazilian team still leads with 5 championships, in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002. Germany and Italy are in second place with 4 titles each.
Among the teams still participating in the tournament, Argentina could increase their number of titles to four, while France is aiming for its third title in history.
Following their 2-1 victory against Japan, the Brazilian players are in high spirits and determined to aim for the 2026 World Cup title.
