At the start of the second half, Inter Milan made a crucial substitution, with Arnautovic coming on for Thuram. The Austrian striker had several good opportunities to score but squandered them all. It wasn't until the 79th minute that Arnautovic finally scored with an accurate rebound shot. The final score was 1-0 in favor of Inter.
Meanwhile in the Netherlands, PSV pushed forward and pressed Dortmund from the opening whistle. In the first 20 minutes, the home team's attack created several good scoring opportunities but unfortunately missed them.

Despite numerous attacks, PSV failed to score and paid the price. From a counter-attack in the 24th minute, former Dutch striker Malen unleashed a powerful shot to open the scoring for Dortmund.
Subsequent efforts only resulted in PSV scoring one goal, courtesy of De Jong from the penalty spot. This scoreline makes the second leg highly unpredictable.
