Vietnam Export Import Commercial Bank (Eximbank) has just announced a resolution of its Board of Directors regarding the convening of an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders in 2024.
The two main points of this resolution are: the location of the extraordinary general meeting of shareholders, which will be held in Hanoi ; and the meeting to discuss the relocation of the head office and other issues (if any).
Accordingly, Eximbank will hold its 2024 Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders on November 28th in Hanoi, but the specific location has not yet been announced.
The proposed new location for the head office was not mentioned in the proposal. Meanwhile, Eximbank's current head office is located in the Vincom Center building, 72 Le Thanh Ton Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
At the annual shareholders' meeting in April 2024 , the bank planned to relocate its headquarters from the 8th floor of the Vincom Center building, 72 Le Thanh Ton Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, to the Fideco Center office building at 28 Phung Khac Khoan Street, Da Kao Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. However, this proposal was not approved by the shareholders' meeting.
The changes at Eximbank occurred after a new shareholder – Gelex Group Joint Stock Company (a company headquartered in Hanoi) – became a major shareholder of the bank with a 10% stake.
Previously, Gelex Group Joint Stock Company (HoSE: GEX) acquired nearly 175 million EIB shares in August 2024, equivalent to 10% of the bank's charter capital, becoming its largest shareholder. Gelex Group's headquarters are currently located in Le Dai Hanh Ward, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi.
Besides Gelex, according to the list as of August 13th, Eximbank also has shareholders holding over 1% of the capital, including: VIX Securities Joint Stock Company holding 62.3 million shares, equivalent to 3.58% of the charter capital; Ms. Le Thi Mai Loan holding 17.9 million shares, equivalent to 1.03% of the capital; and Ms. Luong Thi Cam Tu holding 19.5 million shares, equivalent to 1.12% of the capital. Notably, Ms. Le Thi Mai Loan is a shareholder associated with the Bamboo Capital group.
Several members of Eximbank's Board of Directors were formerly leaders of businesses based in the northern region.
