MU is converting the seating area behind the coaching staff and players into a VIP section. |
This decision is one of the changes announced by the Old Trafford club on March 17th. In addition, they increased season ticket prices by 5% for the third consecutive time, while keeping ticket prices unchanged for spectators under 16 years old.
CEO Omar Berrada admitted: "We understand that any price increase is not welcome, especially at a time when the team is not in good form."
According to internal sources, creating a premium seating area in the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand – just behind the manager's and players' section – helps the club avoid widespread ticket price increases. While acknowledging the decision may displease many, the "Red Devils" leadership believes these seats are currently undervalued.
Earlier in January, Chelsea made headlines by selling tickets for £12,500 to experience the stands behind the coaching area for their final two home games of the 2025/26 season against Liverpool and Manchester United. Manchester United didn't plan to adopt such high prices, but there were still changes to their plans.
"Some seats in the stands near the home and away teams' training areas will be converted into VIP seats, reflecting the special value of the location. We understand the inconvenience for fans currently seated there and will contact them directly to find a suitable alternative," the MU website announced.
Over the past three years, MU has lost £300 million, despite Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos group injecting more money into the club. The new "Red Devils" owners are trying everything to cut costs and increase revenue, even if it means making decisions that are unpopular with the fans.
