MU converted the audience seats behind the coaching staff and players into a VIP ticket area. |
The decision is one of several changes announced by the Old Trafford club on March 17. They also increased season ticket prices by 5% for the third consecutive time, while keeping ticket prices unchanged for those under 16.
"We understand that any price increase is not welcome, especially at a time when the team is not in good form," admitted chief executive Omar Berrada.
According to insiders, the creation of a premium section in the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand - right behind the coaching and players' areas - will help the club limit the increase in ticket prices across the board. While the decision may upset many, the "Red Devils" leadership believes that these seats are currently undervalued.
Chelsea made headlines in January when they sold tickets for £12,500 for their final two home games of the 2025/26 season against Liverpool and Manchester United. MU had not planned to charge such a high price, but there was still a change.
"A number of stands near the home and away training areas will be converted into VIP seats, reflecting the special value of the location. We understand the inconvenience for fans currently sitting there and will contact them directly to find a suitable alternative location," MU's homepage announced.
In the past 3 years, MU has lost 300 million pounds, despite Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos group pumping more money into the club. The new owner "Red Devils" is looking for every way to cut costs and increase revenue, even if it means making decisions that are not popular with fans.
