According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this recall involves nearly 750,000 Ford vehicles due to a potential malfunction in a transmission component that could affect the parking function, potentially causing the vehicle to roll away when the gear selector is in the "P" position if the parking brake is not engaged.
The recalled models include the 2018-2021 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator, the 2020-2021 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator, and the 2021 Ford F-150 pickup truck. The agency also stated that authorized Ford dealerships will update the transmission control software and inspect and replace any damaged parts free of charge if necessary.
In addition, Ford also launched a separate recall for 36,046 Ford Bronco vehicles because the wheel arch covers may have been improperly installed during manufacturing, potentially detaching while the vehicle is in operation and increasing the risk of accidents involving other vehicles.
