Having both missed out on the final, the two teams entered the third-place match with high determination. As expected, the Vietnamese team showcased their individual skills and ball control, while Australia relied heavily on physical strength and long-range shots.
From the start of the match, the red-shirted team took the initiative, constantly pressing forward. After several missed opportunities, the turning point came in the 17th minute. Nhan Gia Hung capitalized on the chaos following a corner kick to quickly finish, opening the scoring for Vietnam. The goal made the game more open as Australia was forced to push their formation higher up the field.
Just a few minutes later, Nguyen Da Hai intercepted the ball in midfield and skillfully controlled it before assisting Chau Doan Phat to double the lead. Australia also had some notable counter-attacks, but goalkeeper Pham Van Tu played attentively, making several crucial saves against dangerous shots.
In the second half, Australia went all-out with a power-play strategy from quite early on, but this left them exposed in many gaps. Vietnam nearly scored another goal when Gia Hung and Dinh Cong Vien combined to create an opportunity for Nguyen Thinh Phat, but the ball hit the post.
Nevertheless, in the 19th minute, the efforts of the red-shirted team were rewarded. From a long pass by Gia Hung, Cong Vien headed the ball down to set up Thinh Phat, who successfully finished the shot. In the final seconds, goalkeeper Van Tu gathered the ball and unleashed a daring shot from his own half, sealing a 4-0 victory for the Vietnamese team.
This result helped the Vietnamese futsal team secure third place overall, thus restoring their pride after a turbulent tournament.
