Stand firm at the border

Talking with Colonel Hoang Hai Dang, Deputy Political Commissar of Economic-Defense Group 327, we learned that Dong Trieu, Quang Ninh is where Group 327 (predecessor of Economic-Defense Group 327) was established on August 23, 1976. At that time, Group 327 had the mission of training, combat readiness and economic development.

By July 1978, Group 327 was organized into the 327th Infantry Division, directly fighting, ready to fight and serving in combat to protect the northern border. After that, the Division transferred its tasks of managing and training reserve forces. In April 1999, the Ministry of National Defense decided to transfer the 327th Infantry Division into the 327th Economic-Defense Group, returning to the border area of ​​Quang Ninh province to carry out the tasks of being ready to fight, managing, training reserve forces and building the economy combined with national defense...

"From mid-1999, we marched from Tien Hai, Thai Binh to the assembly points on the border of Quang Ninh province. The first days were full of difficulties, the mountainous terrain was complex, there were basically no roads, the population was sparse and many areas were uninhabited. There were no barracks or houses, we had to build temporary shelters; transport bricks and roofing sheets; and clear grass to open the transport routes. We had to walk all day to get to the market for supplies. There was no clean water, so we had to use rainwater and stream water for daily use. In winter, we bathed in streams, the water was cold, we had to drink fish sauce to resist the cold. But the spirit and traditional motivation of "Solidarity - Urgency - Courage - Determination to Win" of the Group helped us stay at the border, build new barracks, consolidate accommodation, and wholeheartedly carry out the assigned tasks well.

Up to now, along the entire border line and project area managed by the Delegation, a synchronous system of electricity, roads, schools, and stations has been formed; operating effectively, contributing to the economic, cultural, and social development in the area," said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Quyet, Deputy Head of the Staff-Planning Department, Economic-Defense Group 327, who has been present since the early days of the Group in Quang Ninh.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Quyet joined the army in 1992. After graduating from the Army Officer School 1 in 1998, he was transferred to Regiment 42, Infantry Division 327. When the 327th Economic-Defense Group was established, he and his unit moved to the Quang Ninh border area, both to stabilize their lives and to organize training and carry out missions. During more than 25 years of association with the 327th Economic-Defense Group, he held many positions, from Deputy Team Leader of Team 6, Forest Farm 156 to Deputy Director of Forest Farm 42, then Director of Forest Farm 155... he always completed his tasks excellently, leading and commanding the forest farms to become leading units of the 327th Economic-Defense Group.

According to Mr. Quyet, in order for the unit to stand firm at the border, first of all, the unit's Party Committee and commanders must be united and unified; creative in leadership and management; pay attention to improving the material and spiritual life of cadres, workers and employees; and closely connect with the Party Committee, government and local people.

Always "3 stick", "4 together" in the area

"The results achieved today are that the entire delegation has well implemented the motto "3 attachments" (attachment to the people, attachment to the village, attachment to the locality) and "4 together" (eating together, living together, working together, speaking the local language together). Thanks to that, the projects have been implemented smoothly, achieving high socio-economic efficiency," Colonel Hoang Hai Dang emphasized.

Currently, Economic-Defense Group 327 is stationed on the border line of Quang Ninh province with a length of 118.8km on land and 13.2km at sea. To contribute to stability, ensuring political security, order and social safety, the Group must have a firm grasp of the area, coordinate with local Party committees and authorities to propagate laws, guide and support people in doing business, deploy production models and develop the economy effectively.

Visiting the garden-pond-cage model of Mr. Bui Van Thoan's family in Luc Phu village, Hai Son commune, Quang Ninh province, we learned that Mr. Thoan reclaimed and renovated 3 hectares of land to build a family economic model. In addition to Mr. Thoan's family model, there are many other effective models supported by Economic-Defense Group 327 such as: 3-hectare garden-forest-house model in Trinh Tuong residential area, Pac Cuong village, Hoanh Mo commune, Quang Ninh province; 2-hectare fruit tree growing model of Mrs. Nong Thi Chuong's family in Dong Thang village, Hoanh Mo commune... These models all bring high economic efficiency, with an annual income of 150 to 200 million VND.

"To build an economic and production model, we direct and mobilize teams, working groups, and young intellectual volunteers to propagate, provide technical guidance, plan fields and gardens, renovate accommodation and barns; support the provision of capital, livestock breeds, crops and product consumption... Thanks to that, the economic and defense projects implemented by the Union have attracted and created jobs for thousands of people, with an average income of 150,000 to 170,000 VND/person/day. In 5 years (2020-2025), the entire Union has also built 11 "smart mass mobilization" models; effectively implemented the national target program on education-training and health care, associated with the Movement "The Army joins hands to build new rural areas"; prevented and fought epidemics, especially the Covid-19 epidemic...", Colonel Hoang Hai Dang added.

The results of the efforts to build a strong and comprehensive unit, participating in economic, cultural and social development in the area have contributed to enhancing the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, maintaining political security, order and social safety in the border area of ​​Quang Ninh province. After nearly 50 years of construction and development, Economic-Defense Group 327 has built a glorious tradition and has been awarded many noble awards by the Party, State and Army such as: Third-class Military Exploit Medal, 2 Second and Third-class Fatherland Protection Medals; Regiment 42 was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces...
