Coffee price forecast for December 14 , 2024

Traders believe prices will rise in many markets in the coming days, which could slow consumption, especially in developing countries.

According to traders, unseasonal rains have returned to Vietnam, the leading producer of Robusta coffee, potentially further disrupting the harvest and raising new concerns about quality. Robusta and Arabica are, to some extent, interchangeable, so a shortage of one could increase demand for the other.

According to forecasts, world coffee prices on December 14, 2024, following a relatively strong increase on December 13, 2024, are likely to continue rising sharply on the Robusta exchange in London, Arabica exchange in New York, and Arabica exchange in Brazil. Therefore, domestic coffee prices are also predicted to reach 125,000 VND/kg.

Ms. Nguyen Vi Ha, Deputy Director of Nong Nguyen Co., Ltd., a company specializing in purchasing coffee in Di Linh town, Lam Dong province, said that people are hesitant to take profits, coupled with the complicated weather in Lam Dong due to heavy rains that show no signs of stopping, which has seriously affected the harvesting and drying of coffee. This has led to anxiety for both farmers and purchasing businesses due to concerns about the quality of the coffee not meeting requirements.

"It is very likely that there will be a localized shortage of coffee in the next day or two, leading to businesses not having goods to export. Therefore, I predict that the price of coffee tomorrow, December 14, 2024, will continue to rise, but the extent of the increase is very difficult to predict," said Ms. Nguyen Vi Ha.
