Domestic coffee prices have increased slightly.

Today's coffee price on December 12, 2024, at 4:30 AM on the world market, was updated on the Vietnam Commodity Exchange (MXV) (world coffee prices are continuously updated by MXV, matching those of exchanges worldwide; it is the only channel in Vietnam that continuously updates prices linked to exchanges around the world).

Robusta coffee prices in London on December 12, 2024

At the close of trading, Robusta coffee prices on the London exchange at 4:30 PM on December 12, 2024, experienced a sharp decline after two consecutive days of gains earlier in the week, falling by $107-$132 per ton, fluctuating between $4964 and $5161 per ton. Specifically, the January 2025 delivery contract was $5161 per ton (down $107 per ton); the March 2025 delivery contract was $5101 per ton (down $131 per ton); the May 2025 delivery contract was $5042 per ton (down $135 per ton); and the July 2025 delivery contract was $4964 per ton (down $132 per ton).

New York Arabica coffee prices on December 12, 2024

Similarly, Arabica coffee prices on the New York exchange on the morning of December 12, 2024, also fell sharply compared to the previous trading contract, decreasing by 12.70-13.95 cents/lb, fluctuating between 306.05 and 320.20 cents/lb. Specifically, the March 2025 delivery contract was 320.20 cents/lb (down 13.95 cents/lb); the May 2025 delivery contract was 317.80 cents/lb (down 13.75 cents/lb); the July 2025 delivery contract was 313.05 cents/lb (down 13.35 cents/lb); and the September 2025 delivery contract was 306.05 cents/lb (down 12.70 cents/lb).

Brazilian Arabica coffee prices on December 12, 2024

At the close of trading on the morning of December 12, 2024, Brazilian Arabica coffee prices also saw significant decreases across all contract periods, ranging from $0.40 to $15.45 per ton depending on the delivery timeframe. Specifically, the December 2024 contract was $401.00 per ton (down $15.45 per ton); the March 2025 contract was $406.10 per ton (down $0.40 per ton); the May 2025 contract was $396.15 per ton (down $18.20 per ton); and the July 2025 contract was $389.75 per ton (down $12.15 per ton).

Robusta coffee traded on the ICE Futures Europe exchange (London exchange) opens at 4:00 PM and closes at 12:30 AM (the next day), Vietnam time. Arabica coffee traded on the ICE Futures US exchange (New York exchange) opens at 4:15 PM and closes at 1:30 AM (the next day), Vietnam time. Arabica coffee traded on the B3 Brazil exchange opens from 7:00 PM to 2:35 AM (the next day), Vietnam time.

Domestic coffee prices continued their upward trend for the second consecutive day this week. Specifically, as of 4:30 AM on December 12, 2024, domestic coffee prices increased by 8,000 VND/kg. The current average purchase price for coffee in the Central Highlands provinces is 124,000 VND/kg.

The purchase price of coffee in Gia Lai province is 124,700 VND/kg; in Dak Nong province it is 124,800 VND/kg and in Dak Lak the highest price is 124,700 VND/kg; the price of green coffee beans (fresh coffee beans) in Lam Dong province, in districts such as Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha, is 124,000 VND/kg.

Today's coffee prices (December 12th) in Dak Lak province are as follows: in Cu M'gar district, coffee is being purchased at 124,700 VND/kg, while in Ea H'leo district and Buon Ho town, the same price is being paid at 124,600 VND/kg.

Domestic coffee price list as of December 12, 2024

In Dak Lak province, during the 2023-2024 crop year, the total coffee growing area was 212,106 hectares. Of this, 200,441 hectares were producing crops, a decrease of 400 hectares compared to the previous crop year, with an average yield of 26.72 quintals/hectare. The total coffee production of Dak Lak province reached 535,672 tons, a decrease of 23,057 tons compared to the previous crop year.

According to Mr. Nguyen Hoai Duong, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Lak province, coffee is the province's main crop. Coffee prices are currently at record highs, averaging around 100,000 VND/kg, and at times reaching 135,000 VND/kg. This is the highest price ever recorded, 82% higher than the previous crop year and nearly three times higher than in previous years.

The global market continues to express certain concerns about coffee supply in major producing countries. Notably, persistently below-historical rainfall in Brazil's main coffee-growing region is casting a negative outlook on the new crop supply. Somar Meteorologia reported 17.8 mm of rainfall last week in Minas Gerais, Brazil's largest Arabica coffee-producing state, equivalent to 31% of the historical average.

Also concerned about the weather, the consulting firm Hedgepoint, in its global market report, predicts Brazil's coffee production for the 2025-2026 crop year to be around 65.2 million bags. Of this, Arabica coffee production is expected to be 42.6 million bags (60 kg each), a 1.4% decrease compared to the previous season. The firm also stated that its production forecast may change depending on future weather conditions.
