The price of betel nuts and leaves remains high, comparable to the Tet holiday. According to vendors, 2023 was a leap year, so the betel nuts were mature, limiting supply. Prices since the Tet Ong Tao (Kitchen God) festival have been many times higher than in previous years. Currently, a plate containing one betel nut and one betel leaf costs between 10,000 and 30,000 VND, depending on the quality of the nuts.

The market on the 15th day of the first lunar month is just as bustling as during the Lunar New Year, with many stalls packed with customers. Ms. Nguyen Thi My, who sells votive offerings at the Ha Tinh City market, said: “During Tet, people usually buy sporadically from early on, so the number of customers doesn't come all at once like on this full moon day. From the morning of the 13th day of the first lunar month, the number of customers started to increase sharply. Even with 5 people preparing the offerings, we couldn't keep up. At times, customers had to queue for up to an hour.”
