According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the global oil market during this price adjustment period (from September 12th to September 18th, 2024) was influenced by factors such as: the US Federal Reserve's decision to cut interest rates, hurricanes in the US Gulf of Mexico, continued weak oil demand from China, and the ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine. These factors have caused global oil prices to fluctuate, rising and falling depending on the specific product.
According to data from Oilprice, at 9:12 AM on September 18th (Vietnam time), Brent crude oil was trading at $73.43 per barrel, down 0.37% from the previous session. WTI crude oil was at $70.93 per barrel, also down 0.37% from the previous session.
| Today's fuel prices, effective from 3 PM on September 19th, show an increase of 51 VND per liter for E5 RON 92 gasoline and 127 VND per liter for RON 95 gasoline; diesel prices are fluctuating. |
On the global market, oil prices recorded their first weekly increase last week after three weeks of decline. Overall, Brent crude rose by approximately 0.8% and WTI crude rose by approximately 1.4% last week.
This week, oil prices maintained their upward momentum in the first two trading sessions. After rising 2% in the first trading session (September 16), world oil prices continued to increase by more than 1% on September 17 due to increased supply disruptions and traders betting that demand would increase if the US Federal Reserve (Fed) cut interest rates.
However, at the start of trading on September 18, world oil prices fell slightly after US gasoline and oil inventory data showed an increase.
In the most recent fuel price adjustment (September 12th), the prices of all types of gasoline and diesel were significantly reduced by the inter-ministerial committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance.
