In line with Quang Ninh province's emulation movement "Achieving the goal of double-digit sustainable growth," the tourism sector is proactively adjusting its growth targets based on the positive development momentum of tourism in the first half of 2026. Reporters from Quang Ninh Newspaper and Radio and Television interviewed Ms. Nguyen Thuy Yen, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, about the solutions and determination to accomplish this task.

+ The basis for this adjustment stems from the positive growth results of Vietnamese tourism in general and Quang Ninh tourism in particular during the first six months of 2026. Tourism continued to maintain strong recovery momentum with the number of tourists, especially international visitors, and revenue both increasing significantly compared to the same period last year; many key international tourist markets such as China, South Korea, and Northeast Asia showed positive recovery.

In the first six months of 2026, Vietnam received nearly 10.7 million international visitors, an increase of almost 21% compared to the same period last year. The top 10 source markets for visitors to Vietnam included China, South Korea, Russia, Taiwan (China), Cambodia, the United States, India, Japan, the Philippines, and Australia.

In Quang Ninh province, the total number of tourists is estimated to reach over 12.4 million in the first six months of 2026, a 3% increase compared to the same period in 2025; of which, international tourists are estimated to reach over 2.6 million. Total tourism revenue is expected to reach nearly 35,200 billion VND, a 21% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

Based on a thorough assessment of the actual situation, the tourism industry has reviewed and updated development scenarios in a proactive, flexible manner, consistent with the local service capacity. Simultaneously, it has focused on implementing solutions to stimulate tourism demand, expand the international tourist market, develop new products, and improve service quality. With the results achieved in the first six months of the year and the solutions being implemented decisively, the Quang Ninh tourism industry is confident in achieving and striving to surpass the adjusted growth targets.

- What solutions has the tourism industry proposed to achieve its growth targets?

First and foremost, the tourism industry will continue to strengthen its promotional and marketing efforts to stimulate tourism demand; organize large-scale communication programs, cultural, sports, and tourism events to attract domestic and international tourists. At the same time, it will strengthen linkages with airlines, major travel agencies, and key tourism destinations to expand its tourist market.

In addition, focus on developing new tourism products, improving service quality, extending the length of stay, and increasing tourist spending; paying attention to beach and island tourism, high-end resort tourism, cultural and spiritual tourism, community tourism, night tourism, and experiential tourism.

Along with that, it is necessary to promote digital transformation, improve the quality of the tourism environment, ensure security and safety for tourists; strengthen state management, inspection, and supervision of tourism service business activities to build the image of Quang Ninh as a civilized, friendly, and attractive destination.

- How has the tourism industry proactively innovated tourism products and sought out and expanded tourist markets, Madam?

+ In 2026, Quang Ninh will continue to develop its tourism product ecosystem in a diverse, distinctive, and in-depth manner. Some new products expected to be launched include night tourism products in Ha Long and other localities; sightseeing and experiential routes in Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay; community tourism, agricultural tourism, and ecotourism products in mountainous, border, and island areas; and products associated with cultural, historical, and heritage values ​​at Yen Tu, Bach Dang, and the Tran Dynasty.
