CIA Director Secretly Visits China

According to CNN news agency, Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Mr. William Burns visited China last month.

The secretive visit by one of the highest-ranking officials in President Joe Biden’s administration comes as the US steps up high-level engagements with Beijing in an effort to stabilize relations.

The White House and the CIA declined to comment. China has not yet addressed this information.

Also this month, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan met with Mr. Wang Yi, Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, in Vienna, Austria. The White House did not announce the meeting until after it ended.
