Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director, reviewed his performance and drew lessons learned at the review meeting for leading and managerial officials of the Department.
For collectives and individuals under the Department's jurisdiction whose violations have been noted in inspection reports, the Provincial People's Committee directs this agency to review and handle them according to procedures, levels, and authority to ensure objectivity, fairness, and compliance with the law.
As previously reported by Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper, public opinion in Thai Binh province was recently stirred up when nearly 1,600 students had their 10th-grade exam scores incorrectly due to a mix-up of answer sheets. The total admission scores of 1,589 students were wrong. Of these, 252 students who initially failed were later admitted to public schools, and the reverse was also true for a similar number.
Following the inspection, the Department re-announced the exam scores of the candidates and organized the admissions process according to regulations. The total number of candidates approved for admission was 16,287. Of the 260 candidates who initially passed but then failed, 141 enrolled in 10th grade at private schools, and 73 attended continuing education programs. Of the remaining 16, three did not enroll, and 13 did not register for any school before the inspection.
The irregularities were discovered after several parents reported "irregularities" in the exam at the end of July 2024. Many candidates received higher scores after the review process, with increases ranging from approximately 1.25 to 5.75 points.
The 10th grade entrance exam in Thai Binh took place on June 6th and 7th with 20,500 candidates. The subjects included Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Language. Approximately 1,100 students took an additional specialized subject exam to qualify for admission to Thai Binh Specialized High School. In the first round, over 16,300 students were admitted, reaching 90% of the target.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Thai Binh province will have 747 educational institutions, more than 12,000 classes, and over 400,000 students.
