Fluctuations in live pig prices (increases/decreases) on April 2, 2024, in various regions.
Thus, the current price of live pigs nationwide fluctuates between 58,000 and 62,000 VND/kg, an increase of about 10,000 to 11,000 VND/kg compared to the same period last year. According to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the price index of livestock products (pigs) in the first quarter of 2024 increased by 0.02% compared to the same period last year, with a 3.37% increase in March 2024 alone.
Production becomes more economically efficient when the scale of production in small-scale households is reduced and large-scale livestock enterprises with closed-loop processes and lower production costs are developed. According to the livestock survey results as of January 1, 2024, the total number of livestock households nationwide decreased by 1.94% compared to the same period in 2023.
However, livestock farmers still need to closely monitor the market situation, and relevant authorities need to provide timely information and control the livestock situation in the locality. They should avoid increasing herds indiscriminately, which could lead to oversupply, sharp price drops, and losses.
