In the Northern region, the price of live pigs today, April 2, 2024, decreased slightly and fluctuated between 59,000 - 60,000 VND/kg.

Accordingly, after all price reductions, traders in Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, and Tuyen Quang all returned to 60,000 VND/kg, equal to Bac Giang, Yen Bai , Hung Yen, Thai Nguyen, Thai Binh, Ha Nam, and Hanoi.
Other localities did not record any new price fluctuations, in which the lowest price in the region of 59,000 VND/kg was recorded in Lao Cai, Nam Dinh , and Ninh Binh.

Latest live pig prices in the Central Highlands region
In this area, the price of live pigs today increased slightly within a narrow range and fluctuated between 58,000 - 61,000 VND/kg.
Accordingly, after increasing the price, traders in Nghe An are purchasing live pigs at 60,000 VND/kg, equal to Dak Lak and Binh Thuan .
Also recording a price increase, traders in Quang Binh and Quang Tri are purchasing live pigs at 59,000 VND/kg, equal to Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, and Binh Thuan.
Other localities did not record any new price fluctuations, of which the highest price in the region of 61,000 VND/kg was recorded in Lam Dong.
On the other hand, the lowest price in the region of 58,000 VND/kg was recorded in Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa.

Pig price in the South today April 2, 2024
In the Southern region, the price of live pigs today increased/decreased by 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg in some localities and fluctuated between 59,000 - 62,000 VND/kg.
Accordingly, after a slight price increase, traders in Dong Thap purchased live pigs at 62,000 VND/kg, equal to Dong Nai.
On the other hand, after reducing the price, traders in Vinh Long are buying live pigs at 60,000 VND/kg, equal to Binh Phuoc, Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Long An, An Giang, Can Tho, Hau Giang, Ca Mau, Tien Giang, Bac Lieu, Tra Vinh, and Soc Trang.
The deepest decrease of 2,000 VND was recorded in Ben Tre, bringing the price of live pigs in this locality to 59,000 VND/kg, the lowest in the region.

Fluctuations in the price of live pigs on April 2, 2024 in different regions

Thus, the current price of live pigs nationwide fluctuates between 58,000 - 62,000 VND/kg, an increase of about 10,000 - 11,000 VND/kg compared to the same period last year. According to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the price index of pig farming products in the first quarter of 2024 increased by 0.02% compared to the same period last year, and in March 2024 alone, it increased by 3.37%.
Production is more economically efficient when the production scale of small households is reduced and large-scale livestock enterprises with closed processes are developed with lower production costs. According to the livestock survey results on January 1, 2024, the total number of livestock households nationwide decreased by 1.94% compared to the same period in 2023.
However, farmers still need to closely monitor the market situation, authorities need to provide timely information, control the livestock situation in the locality, and should not increase the herd massively, leading to oversupply, and sharp price drops, causing losses.
