The Vietnam Road Administration has recently adjusted the maximum speed limits on several phased investment sections of the North-South East Expressway.
Accordingly, sleeper buses, buses with more than 29 seats, and trucks weighing 3.5 tons or more are now only allowed to travel at a maximum speed of 80 km/h instead of 90 km/h as before. Vehicles such as passenger cars, buses with fewer than 29 seats, and trucks under 3.5 tons will retain the 90 km/h speed limit.
The adjustments will be piloted for 3–6 months on several routes within the Road Management Zones I and II. This move aims to enhance traffic safety and reduce the risk of accidents on highway sections with limited technical capabilities, poor visibility, or frequent incidents.
