Quang Nam province's education system has consistently achieved remarkable results in national-level competitions for outstanding students in recent years. Starting in the 2022-2023 school year, Quang Nam set a record for the number of awards since 1997 with 42 national-level awards for outstanding students (previously fluctuating around 30 awards).
Subsequently, at the National Excellent Student Examination for the 2023-2024 school year, students from Quang Nam continued to set new milestones in both quantity and quality after achieving a total of 71 awards, including 2 first prizes, 11 second prizes, 17 third prizes, and 41 consolation prizes.
Not stopping there, Quang Nam once again asserted itself by winning 2 first prizes, 12 second prizes, 28 third prizes, and 28 consolation prizes in the National Excellent Student Examination for the 2024-2025 school year; the quality of prizes increased compared to the previous year with 1 second prize and 11 third prizes. Notably, for the first time, it won 2 first prizes in Mathematics.
Notably, for the past three consecutive years, students from Quang Nam have appeared on the international stage and immediately achieved resounding success. In 2023, Do Phu Quoc, an 11th-grade chemistry student from Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted, excellently won the gold medal at the Abu Reikhan Beruniy International Chemistry Olympiad, becoming the first representative from Quang Nam to be honored on the international stage.
In 2024, facing the more challenging International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), Do Phu Quoc once again shone brightly with a silver medal. In 2025, Quang Nam's education sector will shine even brighter with the outstanding achievements of the twin brothers Nguyen Tri Hien and Nguyen Tri Hau (11th grade specializing in Mathematics, Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted).
After jointly winning first prize in the National Excellent Student Competition for the 2024-2025 school year, two young talents from Phu Ninh continued to bring good news to Quang Nam and the whole country with two gold medals at the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad (held in Turkmenistan). Currently in 11th grade, Tri Hien and Tri Hau's exceptional mathematical abilities offer many opportunities to explore and improve their achievements in larger competitions.
This spectacular breakthrough is the result of significant investment in identifying and nurturing gifted students over the years. The Department of Education and Training and the two high schools, Nguyen Binh Khiem (Tam Ky City) and Le Thanh Tong (Hoi An City), annually implement a scientific and high-quality training strategy, motivating teachers and students to strive for high achievements worthy of their homeland, known as the "five phoenixes soaring together."
This was coupled with timely encouragement and rewards from the province, relevant departments, and businesses. Thanks to this, a breakthrough was achieved in the movement of outstanding students, making Quang Nam one of the localities with high achievements in national and international competitions for outstanding students.
