American students introduced their signature dishes.
During the exchange, student representatives from the United States, Vietnam, and Laos met and discussed the unique cultural and culinary characteristics of the three nations. The American students introduced their Laotian and Vietnamese counterparts to signature dishes such as Ly Son garlic pasta, Devil eggs, and BBQ grilled chicken wings.

Lao students studying abroad delighted diners with a variety of distinctive dishes such as grilled chicken, sticky rice, papaya salad, cheo bong, koi, kengnomay (bamboo shoot soup), etc. Sounmala Thitsavanh, a student from Quang Ngai College, said that papaya salad and grilled chicken are traditional Lao dishes loved by people throughout the country. In addition, Lao sticky rice is the most common everyday dish enjoyed by Lao people during meals, parties, festivals, and New Year celebrations.
Students and international guests were curious and enjoyed Vietnamese food.
Vietnamese cuisine is diverse and rich across different regions, but the selection of standout dishes such as shrimp pancakes, spring rolls, banana flower salad, stir-fried frog, and spicy chicken hot pot, prepared by the Vietnam Youth Union of Quang Ngai province, piqued the curiosity and interest of students and international guests.
According to Ms. Huynh Thi Phuong Hoa, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Quang Ngai province, the US-Vietnam-Laos Cultural and Culinary Exchange Festival is a playground and space for Vietnamese and international students to have the opportunity to interact, share, and learn from each other. It is also an opportunity for them to learn more about the culture, people, and countries, and especially to enjoy the characteristic dishes of each country.
“Besides the visually appealing and delicious dishes, the students also shared their understanding and knowledge of the culture, country, people, and beliefs of each nation through their presentations. After the exchange, the guests and students enjoyed the dishes brought by the teams in a joyful and warm atmosphere, making the event even more lively, meaningful, and intimate,” Ms. Hoa expressed.

Furthermore, as part of the Friendship Night program, an exchange between US, Vietnamese, and Lao students, an outdoor team-building activity themed "Youthful Steps" attracted 120 students from the three countries. The international students were interspersed with students from Quang Ngai province in Vietnam to enjoy fun activities and socialize. Team-building games requiring skill and teamwork were essential for success. The international students were very excited to experience these activities in Quang Ngai for the first time.
Donating bicycles to poor but academically excellent students in Tinh Khe commune.
Joining forces to express love and support for those in need, the Department of Foreign Affairs of Quang Ngai province, in coordination with relevant units, donated 5 bicycles to underprivileged but academically excellent students in Tinh Khe commune. Putney Student Travel also donated 16 bicycles to students in difficult circumstances in Tinh Khe commune, Quang Ngai city.
According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Phien, the Friendship Night program for student exchange between the United States, Vietnam, and Laos is a meaningful activity that enriches the province's people-to-people diplomacy, creating an international exchange platform to enhance understanding, solidarity, and mutual support among students in particular, and among the people of the three countries, the United States, Laos, and Vietnam in general.
