Hoi An Cultural Exchange

On July 11, news from the People's Committee of Hoi An City ( Quang Nam ) said that the 20th Hoi An - Japan cultural exchange event will take place from August 2-4, 2024 in the Old Quarter and Hoi An Park.

Accordingly, the programs taking place in Hoi An city will be imbued with the colors of Vietnamese - Japanese culture. In particular, this year the festival will have the participation of many organizations, agencies, and businesses from Japanese provinces/cities, promising to bring a vibrant and grand atmosphere.

The 20th Hoi An - Japan cultural exchange event includes 22 activities, of which the highlight is the opening night held at 7:30 p.m. on August 2, at Hoi An Park stage (No. 2, Tran Hung Dao Street, Hoi An City).

Next is a series of Vietnam - Japan art exchange programs, taking place on August 3, at An Hoi Sculpture Garden, with Yosakoi performances, Japanese songs from Terakoya Japanese class, Ebisu and Kagura performances...

The Farewell program takes place at 7:30 p.m. on August 4 at An Hoi Sculpture Garden with Kagura performance; community activities of Bon dance (Japan), rice drum dance, bamboo dance (Vietnam)...

In addition, there are activities: Exhibition of books and photos about Hoi An - Japan cultural exchange activities at Hoi An Park; exhibition of traditional Japanese dolls taking place from July 26 - August 4 at the Japanese Cultural Exhibition House (6 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai); exhibition "Dialogue with Ukiyo-E paintings" taking place from July 26 - August 4 at 39 Nguyen Thai Hoc.

The boat race “Hoi An, Japan and tourists” will take place at 8am on August 2nd on Hoai River with performances of shaking the basket boat and boat racing on Hoai River for Japanese guests and event participants, foreign tourists and people in Hoi An City; the talk show: “Cultural exchange between Hoi An and Japan - Cultural connection journey” on August 3rd…

Also on this occasion, Hoi An City will hold the inauguration ceremony of the Japanese Covered Bridge relic. Within the framework of the event, there will be important activities: Carp flag raising ceremony by Mr. Sugi Ryotaro (former Special Ambassador of Vietnam - Japan); reenactment of the procession of Princess Ngoc Hoa and merchant Araki Sotaro; discussion "Cultural exchange between Hoi An and Japan - Journey of cultural connection"...

In addition, there will also be a number of supporting activities such as: Vietnam - Japan cultural space; "Japan's ancient traces" tour program; "Hizen ceramics - Storytelling patterns" experience program...
