We are dedicated to persuading parents to send their children to school.
For schools located in the center of the district or city, with convenient transportation and developed living conditions, it's understandable that students attend school regularly and voluntarily. However, for a commune largely inhabited by ethnic minorities, getting students to school is not easy. Therefore, encouraging students to return to school for the new academic year is always a concern for teachers and the school. Recognizing the difficulties to overcome, the teaching staff of Van Ban No. 3 High School has made great efforts, especially in regularly and consistently carrying out campaigns to encourage students to attend classes regularly.
"Sowing the seeds of knowledge" with all our hearts.
To reach villages like Nam Chay, Nam Xay, Nam Xe, Minh Luong, Dan Thang, and Tham Duong, the teachers from the school have only one way: traveling on narrow, isolated roads, with high mountains on one side and a deep ravine on the other.
To encourage a student to attend school, teachers frequently visit their homes, chat with them, and even organize fundraising and support to alleviate their family's difficulties. These actions stem from the teachers' heartfelt concern for impoverished students. Nam Chay commune is located about 20km from the school. What's special is that this commune is deep in the wild forest; reaching it requires traversing 16km of forest roads with steep, rugged slopes, rocky terrain, and muddy paths. The rocky roads are like dry stream beds, with some sections seemingly impassable due to landslides after heavy rains. Teachers have to walk or use rafts to cross streams to meet with parents.

The journey to reach the children.
Here, people mainly work in agriculture, with a small number working as laborers to make a living, so life is very difficult. Parents of ethnic minorities do not pay much attention to their children's education, so encouraging students to attend school is not easy.

Because even the most difficult students can overcome it.
The journey was arduous, but it couldn't discourage the teachers. After about two hours of crossing the mountain pass, we finally reached the students' homes. However, during the outreach efforts, many "laughable" situations arose. In many families, the parents were absent when the team arrived, or many students ran away when they learned that someone had come to persuade them to attend school. Some parents were not keen on sending their children to school and avoided us; in some cases, they openly stated they didn't want their children to go to school because of their family's difficulties... Some children neglected their studies and dropped out to follow their parents to the fields and farms. This is a great disadvantage, affecting their future. Therefore, the teachers at the school always determined that it was necessary to stay close to the villages and the people to understand the parents' thoughts and listen to their concerns. Only then could they show parents the importance of education and achieve effective results.
Given this situation, homeroom teachers regularly visit students' homes to understand their situation and encourage them to return to class. At the same time, the school collaborates with the village management board and various community organizations at the commune and district levels to form teams that go door-to-door to persuade students who have dropped out to return to school.
No matter how difficult it is, don't give up.
With the conscience, enthusiasm, and affection of educators, we do not hesitate to go to each house to encourage children to attend school. In addition, the school will continue to coordinate with departments, agencies, and organizations to mobilize benefactors to help students with material support such as scholarships, clothing, books, and transportation to school... We will also coordinate with village committees to raise awareness among the people, especially ethnic minorities, about the importance of education and equipping children with the knowledge to confidently face life.
Despite the hardships, with their love for their profession and affection for children, the teachers of Van Ban No. 3 High School have remained dedicated to their school and classrooms, wholeheartedly committed to their beloved students, to effectively promote and encourage students to attend school. And that journey continues…
