"Sowing" technology to remote areas

After operating a two-level local government, the provincial agricultural sector has promoted its role of accompanying farmers, bringing science and technology to remote areas to improve productivity and quality of crops and livestock, and replicating effective production models, helping farmers get rich on their homeland.

The cold weather is also the time when officers and civil servants of Tram Tau Commune Agricultural Service and Support Station deploy forms of popularizing winter crop production techniques for farmers in the area. Closely following the forecast of unusual weather developments, the station has advised people to take advantage of favorable weather to harvest rice, clear stubble, prepare the land, and make beds early to sow winter vegetables. The appropriate seed structure and planting and care techniques are recommended by the station to farmers to actively follow.

The success of the oyster mushroom growing model recently developed by the Si Ma Cai Regional Agricultural Service Center has opened up a new farming direction for many local farmers. With 1,000 bags of mushrooms, not requiring much investment capital or cultivation area, after deducting expenses, it can generate an income of 15 - 20 million VND/month. If the potential is exploited well, this will become an additional source of income for households.

From the success of the model, the Si Ma Cai Regional Agricultural Service Center has widely disseminated oyster mushroom growing techniques through hands-on training and propaganda on local information pages, attracting the attention of many farmers in the area.

Ms. Giang Thi Co, Si Ma Cai village, Si Ma Cai commune, after being introduced to oyster mushroom growing techniques, decided to invest in about 500 bags of mushrooms to grow. According to Ms. Giang Thi Co, thanks to being "guided by the hand", she confidently mastered mushroom growing techniques that were previously very unfamiliar to local farmers.

Or the smart rice farming model to reduce gas emissions, which was piloted by the Lao Cai Provincial Agricultural Extension and Agricultural Services Center in collaboration with a number of units in the 2025 spring crop in three communes: Khanh Yen, Duong Quy, Bao Ha with an area of ​​199 hectares, attracting 549 households to participate. This farming model can reduce production costs by 2 - 2.5 million VND per hectare, rice yield reaches 8 quintals/ha, after being granted international certification, profits can increase by 8 - 10 million VND/ha. The model also contributes to changing farmers' thinking and production practices. Smart rice farming techniques are guided by the Provincial Agricultural Extension and Agricultural Services Center to each farmer participating in the model.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha - Director of the Provincial Agricultural Extension and Agricultural Services Center, the Center will continue to open training courses and build pilot models so that local people can participate in the model. The goal is to improve the effectiveness of applying scientific and technical advances, encourage people to mechanize, apply high technology, introduce new varieties of crops and livestock with high productivity and quality into production, attract businesses to participate in production linkages and product consumption.

Through training activities and dissemination of farming techniques, the agricultural sector affirms its support and efforts to local farmers, helping to gradually change farming awareness and build effective production models, aiming to develop agriculture in a safe, green, sustainable direction, adapting to climate change.
