(LĐ online) - In 1969, when the beloved President Ho Chi Minh passed away, Fidel Castro, then Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, wrote in a condolence message to the Party, State, and People of Vietnam: "Comrade Ho Chi Minh belonged to a special class of people whose death sowed the seeds of life, eternally immortal." Now, we can proudly say the same about General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong!

The passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has deeply saddened cadres, Party members, and people from all walks of life.
As soon as the Party and State announced his passing, on all platforms, in one way or another, people expressed their feelings, respect, and sorrow at his passing.
Many social media users changed their avatars, switched their backgrounds to black, used images of the General Secretary as their profile pictures, or set their profile pictures to the national mourning flag even before the State announced a specific national mourning date.
During those days, government offices, private homes, shops, and stores all spontaneously lowered their flags to half-mast. Many young people who used to post pictures of themselves having fun and dancing daily were completely silent during the days following the General Secretary's death, especially during the two days of national mourning.
There are some artists who, in their daily lives, may make statements or act in a seemingly "artistic" way, but during the national mourning period, they truly restrained themselves and posted respectful messages about the General Secretary on their social media accounts.
Since the General Secretary's passing, most events at agencies, units, organizations, and localities have begun with a minute of silence in memory of the General Secretary.
Even large-scale cultural and sporting events, despite elaborate preparations, have been suspended even before the government officially declared a national mourning period. Furthermore, despite the absence of any regulations prohibiting it, some couples who had already set wedding dates have voluntarily postponed their ceremonies.

During the two days of national mourning, crowds of people from all over the country, some from very far away, flocked to the National Funeral Home in Hanoi, the Reunification Hall in Ho Chi Minh City, and the General Secretary's hometown to bid him farewell for the last time. The funeral organizing committee even decided to extend the viewing time to 24 hours, but still could not meet the expectations of all the people.
"The people's hearts are like the ocean," a poet once wrote! During his lifetime, our beloved President Ho Chi Minh affirmed: "A living example is worth more than a hundred propaganda speeches."
The life of dedication, commitment, and devotion to the people and the nation until the very last moments of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has won the hearts and minds of the people. Cadres, Party members, and all strata of society bow their heads before a shining example, a great personality.

The sincere feelings that have come from the hearts of the people for the beloved General Secretary in recent days also show that the people truly yearn and long for leaders who are dedicated and passionate about the country and the nation. Surely, deep down, everyone wishes and hopes that the country will have many more leaders like General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Throughout Vietnamese history, extraordinary individuals have emerged during special periods. The great national hero Nguyen Trai, in his "Proclamation of Victory over the Wu," expressed this sentiment: "Although strength and weakness vary from time to time, heroes have always existed in every era."
In 1969, when beloved President Ho Chi Minh passed away, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Le Duan, along with the Party and national leaders at that time, united the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army to faithfully and worthily inherit the great legacy of beloved President Ho Chi Minh.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has passed away, but what he sowed will surely continue to flourish. Surely, during these sorrowful days of farewell, remembering the beloved General Secretary, every cadre, Party member, and patriotic Vietnamese citizen hopes and expects that the next generation will follow the example of their predecessors, faithfully and worthily continuing the work and legacy of their predecessors.
