In the current digital age, reading culture is increasingly being paid attention to by families, schools and society with the desire to form a correct awareness of the importance of reading for students. Many practical activities have been implemented, helping students at all levels to enhance their enthusiasm and determination on the journey to conquer knowledge.

In 2024, An Dong Primary School, A Sao Commune was honored to receive the award for developing reading culture from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This is an honor and a motivation for the staff, teachers and students of the school to promote their achievements and become ambassadors to spread reading culture in the community. Not only does it have bookshelves in each classroom, the school also has a school library, a green library with nearly 6,000 books and a spacious, clean and beautiful space. While the school library campus is invested in a modern, lively style with many reading corners, the green library has rows of environmentally friendly palm trees, convenient for students to read outside of school hours.
Teacher Nguyen Thi Tran, librarian of An Dong Primary School, said: During library reading sessions, we focus on guiding students on how to choose the most suitable books. At the age of first graders, they will be encouraged to explore a variety of books with lots of pictures, and the teacher will also organize quizzes so that they know how to collect information they have just read. Through that, students will gradually love and be enthusiastic about reading.
Teacher Pham Minh Thu, Vu Tay Primary School, Tran Lam Ward informed: "Every week, during the library reading period, I encourage students to practice skills and habits of concentration when reading books. They will find books on topics that the teacher gives before reading time such as cultural celebrities, life lessons, exploring nature... then share their feelings about the content of the book with their friends. This activity encourages the spirit of passion for learning and receiving information from books effectively."
Over the years, Quach Dinh Bao Primary, Secondary and High School, Tran Hung Dao Ward, has organized clubs such as: "Books and Action", "Book Lovers" with activities suitable for each age group of students. While the clubs in the secondary school block are enthusiastically guided by the Literature teacher, in the high school block, students can come up with ideas and write reviews about books, give presentations, record videos introducing their favorite books, post articles on the club's fanpage... These activities create positive changes, towards the goal: "Every good book is a good friend", "Books open up new horizons for me" on the journey to conquer knowledge. Along with organizing activities at the school library, many schools have coordinated with the Provincial Library to bring multimedia library buses to students.

In the 2025-2026 school year, from October, the Provincial Library will start implementing these meaningful trips, the first destination of the journey is An Khe Primary School, A Sao Commune. On the journey of the multimedia library car, students will explore a treasure trove of knowledge with about 5,000 books in many fields, and will also be guided by librarians to search for information on laptops. The Provincial Library will give the students useful books with great spiritual value, motivating them to be more passionate about learning.
Comrade Le Thi Thanh, Deputy Director of the Provincial Library, emphasized: Schools play a key role in developing a reading culture for students. Currently, many schools have invested in building standard libraries, the teaching staff focuses on innovation in teaching methods, students are increasingly aware of seeking knowledge outside of textbooks... are advantages in developing a reading culture. Therefore, schools need to pay attention to building a friendly, attractive reading environment, regularly diversifying the sources of materials in the school library and classroom bookshelves. Schools can organize activities to develop reading skills for students such as the "A good book a week" contest, helping students see the connection between practical knowledge and information found in books.
“Sowing” the culture of reading is a process that requires perseverance, persistence, patience, and a method suitable to the conditions of each place. Investing in space, time, and activities for reading will create a favorable, friendly, and progressive environment for students of all ages to learn and grow.
