In today's digital age, reading culture is increasingly receiving attention from families, schools, and society, with the aim of fostering a correct understanding among students about the importance of reading. Many practical activities have been implemented, helping students at all levels to further enhance their enthusiasm and determination on their journey to acquire knowledge.

In 2024, An Dong Primary School in A Sao commune was honored to receive the award for promoting reading culture from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This is a great honor and a motivation for the school's staff, teachers, and students to build upon their achievements and become ambassadors spreading reading culture in the community. In addition to bookshelves in each classroom, the school also has a school library and a green library with nearly 6,000 books and a spacious, clean, and beautiful environment. While the school library grounds are modern and vibrant with many reading corners, the green library features environmentally friendly thatched houses, making it convenient for students to read outside of school hours.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tran, the librarian at An Dong Primary School, said: "During library reading sessions, we focus on guiding students to choose the most suitable books. For first-grade students, we encourage them to explore a variety of books with many illustrations. The teacher also organizes fun quizzes and games to help them learn how to gather information from what they have read. Through this, students will gradually develop a love for reading and become enthusiastic about it."
Teacher Pham Minh Thu from Vu Tay Primary School, Tran Lam Ward, shared: "Every week, during library reading time, I encourage students to develop the skill and habit of concentrating while reading. They will find and read books on topics given by the teacher before reading time, such as cultural figures, life lessons, exploring nature, etc., and then share their feelings about the book's content with their classmates. This activity encourages a passion for learning and effectively absorbing information from books."
Over the years, Quach Dinh Bao Primary, Secondary, and High School in Tran Hung Dao Ward has organized clubs such as "Books and Action" and "Book Lovers," with activities tailored to each age group. While the secondary school clubs are guided by dedicated Literature teachers, high school students are encouraged to independently develop ideas and write book reviews, give presentations, create videos introducing their favorite books, and post on the club's fan page. These activities have created positive changes, aiming towards the goals of: "Every good book is a kind friend," and "Books open up new horizons for me" on my journey to conquer knowledge. In addition to organizing activities at the school library, many schools have collaborated with the Provincial Library to bring multimedia library vehicles to students.

Starting in October of the 2025-2026 school year, the Provincial Library will begin implementing these meaningful mobile library trips, with the first destination being An Khe Primary School in A Sao commune. During the journey on the multimedia library vehicle, students will explore a treasure trove of knowledge with approximately 5,000 books covering various fields. In addition, library staff will guide them in searching for information on laptops. The Provincial Library will also donate valuable books with great spiritual value to the students, encouraging them to be even more passionate about learning.
Ms. Le Thi Thanh, Deputy Director of the Provincial Library, emphasized: Schools play a crucial role in developing a reading culture for students. Currently, many schools have invested in building standard libraries, teachers are focusing on innovating teaching methods, and students are increasingly aware of seeking knowledge beyond textbooks… these are favorable conditions for developing a reading culture. Therefore, schools need to pay attention to building a friendly and attractive reading environment, regularly diversifying the resources in school libraries and classroom book collections. Schools can organize activities to develop reading skills for students, such as the "One Good Book Per Week" competition, helping students see the connection between real-world knowledge and information found in books.
Cultivating a reading culture is a process that requires perseverance, patience, and a methodology suited to the specific conditions of each location. Investing in space, time, and activities for reading will create a favorable, friendly, and progressive environment for students of all ages to learn and grow.
