Instilling patriotism in young children.

There are sacred things in this world that need no proof, yet flow silently in our veins – and that is patriotism. Every Vietnamese person, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or religion, carries within them a fervent love for their homeland. This is once again affirmed in the children's poetry collection "Little Ones Love Their Homeland" by author Cao Mai Trang, illustrated by Nhat Anh Pham, recently released to readers by the Ho Chi Minh City General Publishing House.

The 56-page poetry collection contains 50 poems, including notable works such as: Celebrating Independence Day, The Flag, Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, Hue Ancient Capital, The Origin, Little One Loves Uncle Ho, Ba Dinh Square, Stories of Our Ancestors, Cu Chi Tunnels, Dien Bien Phu Victory, Unification Day, The Color of Peace, Hoang Sa - Truong Sa, Opening Ceremony…

With simple, pure verses, this poetry collection instills in children's hearts a love for their country – a sacred and unchanging sentiment. Within this vast yet deeply personal love for the nation, there is a lesson in gratitude and appreciation for the contributions and sacrifices of previous generations for an independent, free, and unified homeland: "Countless generations of our ancestors / fought for peace / for our beloved homeland / and did not hesitate to sacrifice."

Through cleverly interwoven details, the poetry collection also helps children remember significant historical events of the country: Ba Dinh Square / A witness to history… / Uncle Ho read / The Declaration of Independence / “Vietnam” was born. From there, the author awakens love and awareness of building and protecting the homeland in the future: Little one, do you know? / You must love your homeland! / You must protect the country / To continue the legacy of our ancestors / To preserve the borders of our land / Forever prosperous and thriving.

The poetry collection also guides readers on a journey through the three interconnected regions of Vietnam, forming the beautiful S-shaped country, revealing the rich love for the land and its people.

Author Cao Mai Trang stated: As a child, she was taught by her grandparents and parents that patriotism means loving all the simplest things from one's homeland and village. That small love grew with her and perhaps, over time, "magnified" into boundless patriotism.

I hope that "Little Ones Love Their Homeland" will "sow the seeds," nurturing a love for poetry, for the Vietnamese language, and especially for Vietnam in the younger generation. So that we can fully appreciate the beauty of peace and the fervent patriotism – a precious tradition of our nation.
