Sowing patriotism in children

In this world, there are sacred things that do not need to be proven but still silently flow in the blood - that is patriotism. Every Vietnamese person, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, religion, etc., carries within them a strong love for the Fatherland. This is once again affirmed in the children's poetry collection "I Love My Country" by author Cao Mai Trang, illustrated by Nhat Anh Pham, which has just been released to readers by Ho Chi Minh City General Publishing House.

The 56-page poetry collection includes 50 poems, typically: Celebrating Independence Day, The Flag, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hue Ancient Capital, Origin, Beloved Uncle Ho, Ba Dinh Square, Stories of our Fathers, Cu Chi Tunnels, Dien Bien Phu Victory, Reunification Day, Color of Peace , Hoang Sa - Truong Sa, Opening Ceremony...

With simple, pure verses, the collection of poems “sows” into the hearts of children the love of country - a sacred and unchanging feeling. In that vast but also very ordinary love of country, there is a lesson of gratitude, respect for the contributions and sacrifices of the fathers' generation for an independent, free, and unified Fatherland: Generations of fathers/ Fighting for peace/ For the beloved homeland/ Did not hesitate to sacrifice.

Through cleverly interwoven details, the book of poems also helps children remember the country's important historical events: Ba Dinh Square/ Historical witnesses.../ Uncle Ho read/ The Declaration of Independence/ "Vietnam" was born. From there, the author arouses love and awareness of building and protecting the Fatherland in the future: Baby, do you know?/You must love the Fatherland!/You must protect the country/To continue the legacy of your ancestors/To keep the country's borders/Forever prosperous and flourishing.

The collection of poems also leads readers to visit the three regions of the country that are closely connected to each other, creating the beautiful S-shaped Vietnam, to see that Vietnam is imbued with love for the land and people.

Author Cao Mai Trang said: When she was young, her grandparents and parents taught her that patriotism meant loving all the simplest things from her homeland and village. That small love grew with her and perhaps, at some point, it "grew bigger" and became a boundless love for her country.

I hope that, Baby Loves the Fatherland will “sow the seeds” and nurture the love for poetry, for the Vietnamese language and especially for Vietnam in the young generation. So that we can fully feel the beauty of peace, of the passionate patriotism - the precious tradition of our nation.
