- In accordance with Official Letter No. 2146 dated March 13, 2026, from the Provincial Police Department regarding strengthening traffic safety and order in the province, from March 15 to June 14, 2026, the police in communes and wards throughout the province will conduct a comprehensive review and compile a list of citizens aged 18 and above who possess a driver's license and those who do not. Based on the data updated at the grassroots level, the authorities will gradually gain a firm understanding of the current situation of vehicle operators, providing a basis for implementing solutions for public awareness campaigns, management, and violation prevention.

Mr. Be Lam Toi, Deputy Head of the grassroots security team in Ban Thin village, Mau Son commune, said: "Through our review, we found that there are still some people who regularly use motorbikes for transportation but do not have a driver's license. Therefore, in addition to updating information, we focus on disseminating information so that people understand the regulations and proactively participate in training and testing."
By the end of May 2026, the Mau Son Commune Police had reviewed 2,214 households with over 6,700 people in 19 villages; of which 5,710 citizens had been issued driver's licenses and nearly 1,000 citizens did not have driver's licenses as required by regulations.
Ms. Vuong Thi Nghiep, from Na Van village, Mau Son commune, said: "My family has an older child over 18 years old. After the commune police disseminated information, I reminded my child to register for driving lessons and take the driving test, strictly abide by the law, and be equipped with knowledge and skills when participating in traffic."
Not only in Mau Son, but the review process is being implemented simultaneously in all 65 communes and wards across the province. In Nhan Ly commune, the commune police have coordinated with villages and forces involved in maintaining security and order at the grassroots level to conduct a review of each household.
Lieutenant Colonel Dao Trung Thanh, Deputy Head of Nhan Ly Commune Police, said: "The commune police are conducting a review to update the status of driver's licenses of residents. To date, the review has been completed in 15 out of 22 villages. Along with collecting information, we are stepping up the dissemination of traffic laws, encouraging those without driver's licenses to participate in training and testing; and at the same time, requiring those who do not yet meet the requirements to operate vehicles to sign a commitment to comply with regulations."
According to Lieutenant Colonel Phuong Thuc Dinh, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department of the Provincial Police, serious traffic accidents have still occurred in the province recently, including particularly serious accidents where the drivers did not have driver's licenses. Therefore, reviewing the driver's license status of citizens aged 18 and above is important in accurately understanding the reality of vehicle drivers in the area, serving the management work and developing solutions to ensure traffic safety and order appropriate to each locality.
According to statistics from the Traffic Police Department, based on data from areas that have completed or submitted their review results, authorities have recorded 30,033 citizens who have been issued driver's licenses and 28,527 citizens who do not yet have licenses. Those without licenses are mainly concentrated in rural areas, remote regions, and among young people who have recently reached the legal age for driving.
After completing the information update at the grassroots level, the police in communes and wards will compile the list and report it to the Traffic Police Department before June 16, 2026, for further verification and updating of the database. Based on the results of the province-wide review, the Traffic Police Department will advise on the implementation of traffic safety measures appropriate to each locality. Having a firm grasp of the current status of people's driver's licenses will contribute to improving the effectiveness of public awareness campaigns and preventing traffic violations and accidents at the grassroots level.
