Tourism has been identified as a key economic sector and a crucial driving force for growth in Lam Dong province following the expansion of its administrative boundaries. In the first six months of 2026, the province welcomed nearly 12 million visitors, achieving almost 48% of the annual plan. Revenue from tourism activities reached approximately 33,310 billion VND.
There are many urgent needs for building a safe, civilized, and friendly tourism environment. Just one serious accident, one scam, or one act of overcharging tourists can damage the image of a destination that has been built up over many years.

Sudden heavy rains can cause trees to fall, landslides to occur, and flash floods to appear in mountainous forest areas. Lam Dong province has recorded many incidents of falling trees in tourist areas causing injuries to visitors, or heavy rains trapping tourists, and even sweeping them away by floodwaters in the Bidoup – Nui Ba National Park. Recently, Lam Dong province also recorded several cases of tourists dying while swimming in the sea in Phan Thiet. These are valuable lessons about not being complacent in the face of natural disasters and other external factors.
Besides the risks from nature, various types of crimes and violations of the law always seek to take advantage of peak tourist seasons. From theft, pickpocketing, fraud, and individuals posing as tourists to blend into crowded places, to harassment, price gouging, and selling at prices higher than the listed price... if not prevented in time, these will directly affect the rights of tourists and the reputation of the local tourism industry.

Recognizing the risks, the Lam Dong Provincial Police proactively implemented numerous security measures right from the start of the tourist season. From the central streets of Da Lat and coastal resorts in Phan Thiet to remote tourist destinations, the police force intensified patrols and inspections, coordinating with local authorities and tourism businesses to closely monitor the situation and promptly detect and handle violations.
From a business perspective, Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, Director of a travel company in Da Lat, believes that the responsibility of those working in tourism does not stop at organizing an attractive tour but also includes ensuring the safety of each guest. "Only when guests return safely is the journey truly complete!" Mr. Minh shared.

Ensuring the security and safety of tourists is always a top priority for Lam Dong province.
Before leaving Da Lat after a two-day sightseeing and relaxation trip with her family, Ms. Nguyen Thu Trang, a tourist from Dong Nai City, expressed her satisfaction. She shared that, besides the year-round cool climate and the romantic, picturesque scenery that makes the mountain town so attractive, what impressed her most was the feeling of peace and safety that permeated everywhere.
“Even while strolling right in the heart of the city, I still felt a sense of peace, order, and friendliness. That's a very valuable quality, making my family feel truly at ease and wanting to return to Da Lat on future occasions!…,” Ms. Trang expressed.
Colonel Nguyen Minh Tuyen, Head of the Economic Security Department of the Lam Dong Provincial Police, said that one of the province's strengths is tourism development. This field always receives special attention from the provincial police leadership to ensure security and safety for tourists visiting Lam Dong for sightseeing and relaxation, especially during the peak summer season.
Over the past period, the unit has coordinated with departments, agencies, and local authorities to inspect and review the operations of tourism businesses, travel companies, and service establishments. This has allowed for timely rectification of shortcomings and required these units to absolutely avoid complacency regarding potential risks that could threaten the lives, health, and property of tourists.
Proactively prevent risks, coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the police force to inspect and review tourist areas and sites, require businesses to rectify potential safety hazards, develop plans for responding to natural disasters, rescue and relief operations, and guide accommodation establishments to strictly comply with regulations on registration and residence management, preventing unscrupulous individuals from exploiting loopholes to operate illegally.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province announced that, in order to proactively prepare for the summer tourism season coinciding with the rainy and stormy season of 2026, it has requested the People's Committees of communes, wards, the Phu Quy special economic zone, and tourism businesses to implement a comprehensive set of solutions. These include focusing on inspecting business conditions, price listing, ensuring service quality, and strictly handling acts of price gouging, harassment, commercial fraud, and violations that negatively impact the tourism environment.
Every summer, Lam Dong welcomes millions of tourists, each with the expectation of memorable trips. To make those expectations a reality, in addition to the professionalism of businesses and the awareness of each citizen, there is the silent presence of the police force on every road and in every tourist area. It is these tireless efforts that contribute to maintaining peace and security, ensuring that Lam Dong is not only attractive for its natural beauty but also a safe, civilized, and trustworthy destination in the hearts of every visitor.
