Keep the people safe and peaceful during the Lunar New Year celebrations.

During the Lunar New Year of the Horse in 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City Police force deployed personnel on duty, intensified patrols throughout the night, and promptly handled any arising situations; thereby contributing to maintaining security and order so that people could enjoy the spring festival and celebrate the New Year safely.

Accordingly, in ensuring traffic safety and order, the Traffic Police Department (PC08) of the Ho Chi Minh City Police organized round-the-clock patrols and inspections throughout the Tet holiday. During patrols and inspections from the 1st to the 3rd day of Tet, the authorities detected and recorded 1,735 cases of drunk driving; temporarily seized 1,735 vehicles; revoked driving licenses for a limited period in 347 cases; and deducted points from driving licenses in 539 cases.

From 6:00 AM on February 21st, teams and stations under the PC08 Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Police, in coordination with commune-level police, simultaneously launched a campaign to strengthen patrol and control forces, organize traffic flow management and regulation at the city's gateways; contributing to reducing accidents and congestion, and ensuring traffic safety for people traveling safely.

Along with ensuring traffic safety and order, professional forces and local police continue to resolutely fight and suppress crime, especially street crime during the Lunar New Year. Regarding the assault and public disorder incident in Vung Tau ward, on the afternoon of February 22nd, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency served an emergency detention order against Dang Tran Quoc Vu and Dao Nang Nghia for investigation into the act of disturbing public order.

Earlier, on the 5th day of the Lunar New Year, a group of six tourists from Dong Nai arrived by car at an empty plot of land opposite 98 Tran Phu Street to find a place to eat. At this time, Vu asked the group not to stop or park in that area; an argument ensued. Vu allegedly used a chair and shovel to chase and attack the tourists, after which Nghia rushed out and physically assaulted the group.

In fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue operations, the Ho Chi Minh City Police force always maintains a state of readiness, prepared to quickly handle incidents so that people can celebrate the Lunar New Year with peace of mind.

Upon receiving reports of a major fire at a cafe-restaurant complex in Hiep Binh ward on the 6th day of Tet (Lunar New Year), the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Department (PC07) of the Ho Chi Minh City Police immediately dispatched dozens of officers and soldiers to the scene. More than 30 minutes later, the fire was completely extinguished, with no casualties.
