CNN honored 6 caves in Phong Nha Ke Bang World Natural Heritage as world-class including: Son Doong Cave, En Cave, Va Cave, Nuoc Nut Cave, Tu Lan Cave, Thien Duong Cave. At the same time, Tam Coc Cave (Ninh Binh), Sung Sot Cave, Luon Cave (Quang Ninh) were evaluated by CNN as strangely beautiful.
On March 3, the Quang Binh Provincial Department of Tourism reported that CNN had just honored 9 caves in Vietnam, including 6 caves in the Phong Nha Ke Bang World Natural Heritage. CNN quoted a member of the British Cave Research Association as saying: The research team of the British Cave Research Association has explored more than 500 caves in Vietnam, but has only explored about 30% of this area. There are many, many more caves to be discovered in the future. CNN's honoring of caves in Vietnam contributes to introducing and promoting Vietnamese tourism to international friends. Son Doong Cave . Son Doong Cave is considered the largest cave in the world. Son Doong Cave was formed about 2-5 million years ago. The cave is 150 meters wide, over 200 meters high, and nearly 9 kilometers long. The estimated volume of Son Doong Cave is 36.8 million cubic meters (equivalent to 15,000 Olympic swimming pools). With such a size, Son Doong Cave has surpassed Deer Cave in Malaysia's Gunung Mulu National Park (with a height of 122 meters, a width of 174 meters, and a length of 4.1 kilometers) to take the position of the largest natural cave in the world. In addition, in some sections, Son Doong Cave is so large that it can accommodate a 40-story building. The cave has two "skylights", two places where the ceiling has collapsed, allowing sunlight to shine in, creating conditions for trees to grow like a tropical forest in the cave. Va Cave. Hang Va is considered by explorers and scientists to be a cave with a special and unique structure in the world. In addition to the water cave sections with many water streams flowing into the cave, there are large cave vaults inside. The cave floor is made up of many lakes surrounded by calcite walls, inside the lakes are thousands of conical stalactites of different sizes and heights growing densely inside. The tallest conical towers recorded in Hang Va are over 2m high. Scientists believe that the formation of these conical stalactites is not the same as the formation of stalactites in caves around the world, they are formed from water containing high calcium content rising inside the lake during the rainy season. Swallow Cave. En Cave is a cave located in Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park. En Cave is over 1.6 km long, with 3 entrances, the ceiling is 100 m high in some places and 170 m wide at its widest point. This is the 3rd largest cave in the world after Son Doong Cave and Deer Cave in Malaysia. Inside the cave is a clear stream winding its way to Son Doong Mountain. Va Cave is considered by explorers and scientists to be a cave with a special and unique structure in the world. In addition to the water cave sections with many water streams flowing into the cave, there are large cave domes inside. The cave floor is made up of many lakes surrounded by calcite walls, inside the lakes are thousands of conical stalactites of different sizes and heights growing densely inside. The tallest conical towers recorded in Va Cave are over 2m high. Scientists believe that the formation of these conical stalactites is not the same as that of stalactites in caves around the world. They are formed from water containing high calcium content rising inside the lake during the rainy season. Cracked Water Cave. Nuoc Nut Cave is located in the cave complex of Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park. Inside Nuoc Nut Cave, there are sandbanks and stalactites of many different shapes. The cave was first discovered in 2003, and the cave entrance was discovered in 2012. The cave has a large dome and a giant stalagmite wall. Cave experts say that based on geological survey results, Nuoc Nut Cave is 2.2 km long and is about 2 million years old. The cave is currently exploited for tourism from February to the end of August every year. Tu Lan Cave. Tu Lan Cave has a very special geomorphology, even compared to other caves in Quang Binh . The geological plates in this area are always moving and colliding with each other, the mountains are still forming and growing. The rivers continue to cut into the foot of the mountains, eroding and creating new caves over time. There are 2 main types of caves formed in this area: Dry Caves and Wet Caves. Based on the cave structure, dry caves are often older while wet caves are often much younger. The streams form a cave system from high to low. Therefore, this feature makes Tu Lan's beauty unique, completely different from other scenic spots. Paradise Cave. Thien Duong Cave was discovered in 2005, the British Royal Cave Association explored from 2005-2010 and in 2010 they announced that this cave has a total length of 31.4 km, the longest cave in Asia. Due to the beauty of stalactites and stalagmites in the cave, they named this cave Thien Duong. Thien Duong Cave is a dry cave, without an underground river flowing through like Phong Nha Cave. According to preliminary survey results of scientists, compared to Phong Nha Cave, Thien Duong Cave is much longer and larger in scale. In Thien Duong Cave, there are many magical stalactites and stalagmites. Source: https://cand.com.vn/Chuyen-dong-van-hoa/6-hang-dong-o-phong-nha-ke-bang-duoc-cnn-vinh-danh-i685369/
