Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Cham in Kien Thuy commune established Chavigreen Company Limited, with herbal cosmetics products since the end of 2021. Starting from zero, with many initial difficulties in capital and experience, Ms. Cham always received support and guidance from the City Women's Union.
With an initial loan of 70 million VND, she invested in buying machinery, importing raw materials, and creating the first products. Currently, the company's products reach and expand markets both domestically and internationally, with many distributors in Hanoi and a network of agents and online collaborators. "Thanks to the knowledge improvement courses and support for women starting a business organized by the City Women's Union, I know how to sell products on e-commerce platforms, expand the product consumption market, and reach more customers" - Ms. Cham said.
Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Nghin in Khuc Thua Du commune opened a handicraft production workshop in 2008. Starting with many difficulties, Ms. Nghin always strived every day, overcoming all difficulties to build and establish the Nam Nghin Cooperative for processing handicrafts, sewing packaging, and handbags.
Currently, the cooperative creates jobs for about 100 local workers, with an income of 3-7 million VND/person/month. The growth of the cooperative helps Ms. Nghin's family have "food and savings", she is a typical woman who dares to think, dares to do and succeeds in the locality.
To help women start a successful business, the Women's Union at all levels always plays the role of a "bridge" to help women easily access resources and skills to start and develop their businesses.
From 2010 to present, the City Women's Union at all levels has supported capacity building for nearly 4,000 female business owners, cooperative managers, cooperative groups, association groups, and heads of production and business households; supported 4,325 women to start businesses; helped 255,119 households have conditions to develop the economy ; 20,035 women households escape poverty and near-poverty.
The Association at all levels has also proactively and actively coordinated with relevant departments, branches, and vocational training facilities to provide consultation and vocational training to more than 172,000 members and introduce and create jobs for about 97,100 female workers.
Along with launching and implementing the contest, the City Women's Union effectively implemented Project 939 "Supporting women to start a business", including organizing and coordinating training courses on knowledge about starting a business to adapt to digital transformation and zero-income starting a business; sharing experiences between female business owners and women starting a business; supporting women starting a business to participate in displaying OCOP products...
Helping women access digital transformation
With the pioneering and creativity of the Women's Union at all levels, activities applying information technology and digital transformation open up new opportunities, helping women become more confident in economic development.
In the activities to support women in starting a business in the period of 2017 - 2025, the City Women's Union trained more than 1,000 officials and members on "Application of AI in business", policies to support start-ups and digital technology businesses. The Union also implemented many activities to support cooperatives managed by women, with 17 conferences and training on linking product consumption, applying AI in collective economic development and digital transformation, helping women access technology, improve product quality and increase income.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lac Phuong Commune, in modern society, start-up opportunities are divided equally between both genders. For women, to start a successful business, they need support from family, colleagues and timely encouragement from all levels and sectors.
On the side of the Women's Union, we will continue to closely coordinate with all levels, sectors, localities, units and organizations to support women so that start-ups can achieve the desired goals.
