The City Women's Union has many activities to support its female members in confidently starting their own businesses.

Give opportunities

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Cham from Kien Thuy commune established Chavigreen Co., Ltd., specializing in herbal cosmetics, in late 2021. Starting from scratch, facing many initial difficulties in terms of capital and experience, Ms. Cham has always received support and guidance from the Women's Union of the city.

With an initial loan of 70 million VND, she invested in machinery, imported raw materials, and created her first products. Currently, the company's products have reached and expanded markets both domestically and internationally, with many distributors in Hanoi and a network of online agents and collaborators. "Thanks to the advanced training courses and support for women entrepreneurs organized by the Hanoi Women's Union, I learned how to sell products on e-commerce platforms, expand the market, and reach more customers," Ms. Cham said.

Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Nghin, from Khuc Thua Du commune, opened a handicraft production workshop in 2008. Starting with countless difficulties, Ms. Nghin has always strived every day, overcoming all obstacles to build and establish the Nam Nghin Cooperative for processing handicrafts, packaging, and handbags.

Currently, the cooperative provides employment for approximately 100 local workers, with incomes ranging from 3 to 7 million VND per person per month. The cooperative's growth has helped Ms. Nghin's family accumulate savings, making her a typical example of a woman who dares to think, dares to act, and achieves success in the locality.

To help women start businesses successfully, women's associations at all levels always play the role of a "bridge," making it easier for women to access resources and skills for starting and developing businesses.

From 2010 to the present, the Women's Union at all levels in the city has supported capacity building for nearly 4,000 female business owners, cooperative managers, and heads of production and business households; supported 4,325 women in starting businesses; helped 255,119 households develop economically ; and helped 20,035 women's households escape poverty and near-poverty.

The Women's Union at all levels has also proactively and actively coordinated with relevant departments, sectors, and vocational training institutions to provide advice and vocational training to over 172,000 members and introduced and created jobs for approximately 97,100 female workers.

Along with launching and implementing the competition, the City Women's Union effectively implemented Project 939 "Supporting Women's Entrepreneurship," which included organizing and coordinating training courses on entrepreneurship adapted to digital transformation and zero-capital entrepreneurship; sharing experiences between female business owners and women entrepreneurs; and supporting women entrepreneurs to participate in OCOP product exhibitions…

Helping women access digital transformation.

Thanks to the pioneering and innovative efforts of the Women's Union at all levels, activities applying information technology and digital transformation have opened up new opportunities, helping women become more confident in their economic development.

In its activities supporting women's entrepreneurship from 2017 to 2025, the City Women's Union trained over 1,000 officials and members on "Application of AI in Business," policies supporting entrepreneurship, and digital technology businesses. The Union also implemented numerous activities to support cooperatives managed by women, including 17 conferences and training sessions on product consumption linkages, the application of AI in collective economic development, and digital transformation, helping women access technology, improve product quality, and increase income.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lac Phuong commune, in modern society, opportunities for entrepreneurship are equally distributed between genders. For women, successful entrepreneurship requires the support of family, colleagues, and timely encouragement from all levels and sectors.

The Vietnam Women's Union will continue to closely coordinate with all levels, sectors, localities, units, and organizations to support women in achieving their desired goals in entrepreneurship.
