Inspired by live concerts. A brilliant horizon Set in the spring of 2023, the film, directed by Lan Nguyen, chronicles the journey of singing with children who are the successors of the fading art of 'xam' (a traditional Vietnamese folk singing style) on the grand stage at the foot of the sacred mountain, a project by Ha Anh Tuan.

In terms of content, the journey begins when "storyteller" Ha Anh Tuan arrives at the set of " As If There Had Never Been a Separation." - This long-running television program has been tirelessly searching for the roots of Vietnamese people for nearly two decades. Here, he witnessed reunions after half a century of separation, including a special reunion of a son returning from distant France.
The film then shifts to Ninh Binh , with scenes filmed across famous landmarks, from the heart of the ancient capital of Hoa Lu, Van Long Lagoon, Ma Yen Mountain, Tam Coc, Thai Vi Temple, Bai Dinh Ancient Pagoda, Cuc Phuong National Park... to the primary school in Yen Phong commune.
Alongside the humble and ordinary Vietnamese people, the work also features the appearance of " musical legend" Kitaro in special compositions by musician Vo Thien Thanh. From here, Kitaro's immortal melodies, along with traditional ten-tone folk songs, paint a story of 'origins'.

Previously, Lan Nguyen collaborated with Ha Anh Tuan on the film "Healing Wounds ," which depicted the "wounds" of four special characters: social activist Nguyen Thi Van, musician Ngoc Le, conservationist Nguyen Van Thai, and director, doctor, and war correspondent Nguyen Thi Xuan Phuong.
They are people with different lives, seemingly unrelated, yet connected by an invisible thread, thus becoming a story about "wounds." The film premiered exclusively on Netflix Southeast Asia in 2023.
In 2020, the female director impressed audiences with her music documentary about composer Tran Tien titled " The Faded Grass ," receiving positive feedback.
Regarding her new work, Lan Nguyen stated: " Brilliant Horizons is my own complex journey in Ninh Binh to try to understand my own identity. I was loved and guided by that very land to find the answers."
The film will premiere at the Asian Documentary Film Festival - Vietnam at 9:00 AM on September 14th at the Central Scientific Documentary Film Studio. This is a series of programs jointly organized annually by EUNIC (European Union of Cultural Organizations) and the Central Scientific Documentary Film Studio, with the aim of "blurring cultural boundaries".
