In terms of content, the journey begins when "storyteller" Ha Anh Tuan arrives at the studio of As if there had never been a separation. - a long-standing television program that has been tirelessly searching for the roots of Vietnamese compatriots for nearly two decades. Here, he witnessed reunions after half a century of wandering, among them, a special reunion of a son returning from faraway France.

Then the film moved to Ninh Binh , where it was filmed across famous landmarks, from the heart of the ancient capital Hoa Lu, Van Long lagoon, Ma Yen mountain, Tam Coc, Thai Vi temple, Bai Dinh ancient temple, Cuc Phuong National Park... to the primary school in Yen Phong commune.

Besides the small, ordinary Vietnamese people, the work also features the appearance of the " musical legend" Kitaro in special compositions by musician Vo Thien Thanh. From here, Kitaro's immortal melodies and traditional ten-tone Xam melodies... have drawn the story of 'origin'.

Previously, Lan Nguyen collaborated with Ha Anh Tuan in the film Healing Wounds , depicting the "wounds" of four special characters including social activist Nguyen Thi Van, musician Ngoc Le, conservationist Nguyen Van Thai, and director - doctor - war reporter Nguyen Thi Xuan Phuong.

They are people with different lives, seemingly unrelated but connected by an invisible thread, thus becoming a story about "wounds". The film will be released exclusively on Netflix Southeast Asia in 2023.

In 2020, the female director made an impression with a music documentary about musician Tran Tien called The Color of Withered Grass and received positive feedback.

With her new work, Lan Nguyen said: " Brilliant Horizon is my own complicated journey in Ninh Binh to try to understand my own identity. I was loved and guided by that land to find the answer."

The film will premiere at the Asia-Vietnam Documentary Film Festival at 9am on September 14 at the Central Scientific Documentary Film Studio. This is a series of programs jointly produced by EUNIC (European Union of Cultural Organizations) and the Central Scientific Documentary Film Studio annually, with the desire to "erase cultural borders".
