Goods are abundant, and prices remain stable.

In the early days of spring, the goods market in Thai Nguyen province recorded abundant supply and stable prices, but purchasing power was not yet truly vibrant. This development is consistent with the consumption patterns after Tet (Lunar New Year), and also highlights the need to continue regulating the market and stimulating demand as people tend to rebalance their spending at the beginning of the year.

The province currently has 16 operating supermarkets, along with a widespread network of convenience stores. From the 6th day of the Lunar New Year, supermarkets reopened simultaneously. Goods were replenished promptly, especially fresh food, vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, and essential items for daily meals. Compared to the period leading up to Tet, the display of gift items, processed foods, and confectionery was adjusted, reducing their proportion to better suit actual demand.

At Huong Tam Mart supermarket in Pho Yen ward, the number of customers in the first few days of the year reached about 40-50% compared to the peak before Tet.

Mr. Hoang Van Do, the supermarket manager, said: "The unit has proactively increased its inventory by 10-20% compared to a normal month to ensure supply. Due to the high demand during Tet (Lunar New Year), some items sold out; after Tet, some suppliers are not yet fully operational, so the supermarket is urgently importing more. The price levels of essential goods remain stable, without any unusual fluctuations."

At traditional markets such as Dong Quang, Thai Market, Tuc Duyen, and Duc Xuan, buying and selling activities quickly returned to normal. Most stalls were fully open; many fresh food and vegetable stalls started selling from the second day of Tet. The supply of food and vegetables was quite abundant.

Prices generally remained stable compared to before and during Tet (Lunar New Year). Chicken ranged from 150,000 to 190,000 VND/kg; pork from 160,000 to 180,000 VND/kg; beef from 250,000 to 300,000 VND/kg; shrimp from 220,000 to 250,000 VND/kg; and squid from around 300,000 VND/kg. Some green vegetables saw price reductions due to increased supply after Tet.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, a vegetable vendor at Tuc Duyen market, said: "Currently, consumer demand is focused on food for daily meals. Vegetable prices are stable, with some items even slightly reduced thanks to abundant supply. The lack of price fluctuations helps vendors feel secure in their business, and consumers are not worried about sudden price increases."

Market trends show a clear adjustment in consumer demand after the Lunar New Year. Before the holiday, spending focused on gifts and high-value products; after the holiday, people prioritize balancing their finances and focusing on essential needs. Ms. Hoang Thi Phuong from Trung Thanh ward shared: "After the long holiday with many expenses for shopping, travel, and giving New Year's gifts, my family is more careful when planning our purchases, limiting the buying of products that are not truly necessary."

From a management perspective, preparing inventory early contributes to keeping the market running smoothly. Thanks to inventory plans that increase by 10-20% compared to normal levels, a continuous supply is ensured.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, after the Lunar New Year, the sector will focus on ensuring sufficient goods, maintaining stable prices, strengthening market inspection and control, and prioritizing food safety during the spring festival. The unit's goal is to consolidate consumer confidence and create a foundation for the development of the trade and service sector in the coming year.

Looking ahead, as businesses and organizations stabilize, students return to school in full force, and spring festivals become more vibrant, purchasing power will gradually improve. Demand for food, beverages, and catering services may increase, providing further impetus to the market.

Overall, the post-Tet (Lunar New Year) commercial market in the province remains stable. Supply is assured, prices are not fluctuating unusually, and supply and demand are basically balanced. Although purchasing power is not yet high due to the trend of saving money at the beginning of the year, the current stable foundation will create conditions for commercial and service activities to gradually recover as production and business return to normal levels.
