Officers and soldiers of the unit marched to Ta Đo village. |
Following the historic flood, Ta Đo village was devastated. Ten houses were completely swept away, 53 others were severely damaged, and public infrastructure was submerged in mud. The Mường Xén – Mường Típ – Khe Kiền road running through the village was blocked by landslides and hundreds of other sections, paralyzing traffic and completely isolating the area. With all routes cut off and no other forces able to reach the village, facing immense difficulties, the Mường Ải Border Guard Command decided to form a task force of 18 officers and soldiers to assist the people. Lieutenant Colonel Lô Minh Hiếu, Deputy Commander of the Mường Ải Border Guard Post, directly commanded the operation and deployed the task force to help the villagers. The officers and soldiers, fully equipped with military gear, necessities, and essential tools, marched on foot, crossing dozens of landslide areas, mountains, hills, and streams, covering a distance of approximately 15km to reach Ta Đo village as quickly as possible.
Speaking with us, Major Nguyen Ngoc Minh Tien, Deputy Political Officer of the Muong Ai Border Guard Post, said: “The unit's command, and Comrade Lo Minh Hieu personally, led the task force, clearly identifying the mission to assist the people of Ta Do village as a special mission with many potential dangers, thus ensuring thorough preparation in all aspects. Along with that, they focused on thoroughly instructing the officers and soldiers participating in the task force to clearly understand their responsibilities, maintain strict discipline, and ensure safety during the march and while assisting the people. Although they knew they would face many hardships and difficulties, most of the soldiers in the unit volunteered to participate.”
Quickly deploy tasks to mitigate the consequences of natural disasters. |
During the march, the 18-member task force was divided into small groups of 4-5 people to cross landslide-prone areas to avoid dangerous risks. After many hours traversing dozens of landslide sites, where rocks and soil could collapse at any moment, the task force of officers and soldiers from the Muong Ai Border Guard Post reached the center of Ta Do village. The arrival of the soldiers in green uniforms quickly reassured the people in the disaster-stricken area. There, Lieutenant Colonel Lo Minh Hieu encouraged, shared, and distributed essential food supplies that the task force had brought with them to the people. The soldiers in green uniforms quickly organized daily life and began their task of helping the people. The task force of the Muong Ai Border Guard Post will support the people until their lives gradually stabilize before returning to their unit.
