Meaningful projects
March on the border brings warm, sunny days, with flowers blooming in the villages and rice and corn covering the fields. Especially, every year, there are heroic marches by young people, carrying deep love towards the frontline land of the Fatherland. In mid-March, the Border Guard Command of Hue City, in coordination with the Hue City Youth Union and other participating units, organized the "March on the Border" program in A Luoi 3 commune, with meaningful activities: Inaugurating and putting into use the "National Flag Road" and the youth project "Lighting the Border"; giving gifts to policy beneficiary families and poor households with difficult circumstances; awarding scholarships to poor students who overcome difficulties and scholarships under the "Helping Children Go to School" program, encouraging and motivating the people and students in the border region to strive for a better life.
The footsteps of the local people harmonized with the rhythm of the border guards, youth union members, and young people of the Hue City Youth Union, creating a lively atmosphere along the road shaded by the fluttering national flag against the backdrop of mountains, forests, and fields. At that moment, emotion and pride filled the hearts of the border guards even more.
Colonel Le Hong Tuyen, Deputy Political Commissar of the Border Guard Command of the city, shared that for generations of border guards, the border has always been an integral part of their lives, representing beautiful and precious things associated with their military careers. It means uniting with comrades, overcoming hardships and dangers together to carry out missions through forests, across streams, and over cliffs; patrolling and maintaining border markers; conducting ambushes, tracking and apprehending criminals, especially drug traffickers and transnational criminals in border areas; and ensuring security and social order along the two border lines.
“Throughout our duties, generations of border guards have always received the support and protection of the people in the border areas. We carry in our hearts feelings of gratitude and love for our compatriots,” Colonel Hoang Minh Hung, Commander of the Hue City Border Guard, confided. This gratitude is not only expressed through our efforts to effectively fulfill our specialized and core role in protecting national sovereignty and border security in the new situation, but also through accompanying and supporting the people in the border areas in developing their economy.
Over the past 10 years, hundreds of national flag-lined roads, the "Border Lighting" project, and many other community projects, totaling billions of dong, bearing the mark, responsibility, and affection of the Border Guard Force, Youth Union at all levels, and many other units, have been built throughout the border villages in the former A Lưới district (now A Lưới 1, A Lưới 2, A Lưới 3, A Lưới 4, and A Lưới 5 communes).
Spreading a sense of responsibility among the younger generation.
Comrade Nguyen Thanh Hoai, Secretary of the Hue City Youth Union, a "leader" of the Youth Union who is always present on the meaningful March campaigns to the border, expressed: "March at the border" is a vibrant and beautiful time for young people, working together to successfully implement the annual action program organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union. These activities aim to awaken love for the Fatherland, express gratitude to officers and soldiers, and support the people in border and island areas, while promoting the pioneering spirit of young people, contributing to the protection of border and maritime sovereignty.
Lieutenant Colonel Cao Chi Luyen, Deputy Head of Political Affairs of the Hue City Border Guard Command, said that with the heroic spirit of "March at the Border," along the two border lines, border guard posts, in coordination with local authorities and the Youth Union in their areas of operation, organized meaningful activities. For example, the Thuan An Port Border Guard Post, Quang Nham Border Guard Post, Vinh Hien Border Guard Post, and the Training and Mobile Battalion coordinated to donate hundreds of gifts to disadvantaged people and students; organized "Life Skills Education, Communication Skills Education and Promoting the Values of the New Generation Youth" for new recruits; and organized "A Day as a Border Guard" experiential activities for students... to educate and nurture love for the border and islands in the younger generation.
