The 2024 National Taekwondo Championships for all age groups will take place from August 15th to 22nd at the Tien Giang Provincial Gymnasium. This is an annual tournament, with the participation of over 1,000 coaches, athletes, and officials from 44 units across the country, including provinces, cities, and sectors. Outstanding athletes from this year's tournament will be selected for the national youth team to participate in events such as the World Youth Championships (October 2024 in South Korea).

In 2024, the tournament will include four youth age groups for both boys and girls. The under-12 age group will compete in 22 events (12 sparring events and 10 kata events). The 12-14 age group will compete in 32 events (22 sparring events and 10 kata events). The 15-17 age group will compete in 33 events (23 sparring events and 10 kata events), and finally, the 18-20 age group will compete in 31 events (21 sparring events and 10 kata events).

The tournament promises to deliver exciting matches.

Notable young athletes participating in the upcoming competition include: Nguyen Thi Mai (2006) - Bronze medalist at the 2022 Asian Youth Championships, Gold medalist at the 2023 National Championships, Gold medalist at the 2023 Southeast Asian Youth Championships. Nguyen Thi Loan (2006) - Silver medalist at the 2022 Asian Youth Championships, Gold medalist at the 2023 National Championships, Silver medalist at the 2023 Southeast Asian Youth Championships. Tran Trinh Trong (2007) - Bronze medalist at the 2022 Asian Youth Championships, Gold medalist at the 2023 Southeast Asian Youth Championships. Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh (2008) - Gold medalist at the 2023 Southeast Asian Youth Championships. Nguyen Huu Phat (2008) - Silver medalist at the 2023 Southeast Asian Youth Championships.

Notably, the 2024 National Youth Taekwondo Championships will continue to receive sponsorship from CJ Group, a leading diversified economic group in South Korea. Over the years, CJ has invested in Vietnam in various fields, including taekwondo.

To prepare for strategies and solutions for the development of Vietnamese taekwondo in the coming years, on April 3, 2024, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong held a working meeting with CJ Group Vietnam. At the meeting, Mr. Chang Bok-sang, Chairman and CEO of CJ Group Vietnam, expressed his desire to further strengthen cooperation and strategies for training and supporting athletes, aiming for high achievements.

Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong affirmed that the cooperation between the two sides over the past 20 years has contributed to promoting Vietnamese culture, sports, and tourism. In particular, in the field of sports , the development of taekwondo is evidence of the success of this cooperation.

The 2024 National Youth Taekwondo Championships is one of the important tournaments for Vietnamese taekwondo.

During the meeting, the Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Education, Dang Ha Viet, analyzed the strengths and challenges of taekwondo. He also proposed areas where CJ Vietnam Group could provide increased support, such as: training young athletes, organizing training courses, improving the quality of coaches, standardizing training programs across localities, and increasing the number of athletes sent to train and compete in international competitions.
