As they welcomed the new year 2026, the family of Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Thanh Huong, lecturer in the Department of History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Artillery Officer School (Artillery-Missile Command), had the opportunity to gather together.

The lively discussion between his wife, Tran Tram Anh, a physical education teacher at Tung Thien High School (Hanoi), and their two sons made the family atmosphere even warmer and more loving.

In a quiet moment, he took his guitar from the cupboard and played and sang love songs about sailors, spring, and more for his wife and children. Unbeknownst to them, their love story unfolded like a film, replayed from beautiful memories.

The story goes that in 1999, Hoang Thanh Huong was assigned by his unit to teach the main military training week at Ngo Quyen High School (Hanoi). Among the school's teachers, the young officer Hoang Thanh Huong was impressed by a teacher with a round, gentle face, who was quiet and had long, silky hair. Tram Anh was naturally reserved, so she only occasionally responded to his stories with a bright smile.

After many conversations, sometimes casually revealing his feelings to gauge the other's reaction, the young officer Hoang Thanh Huong took the initiative to visit Tram Anh's home. With his enthusiasm and witty conversation, he quickly won the affection of Tram Anh's parents. Besides his work, he often visited Tram Anh's house, always ready to help. Because of the soldier's genuine affection, teacher Tram Anh was somewhat swayed. Knowing he had feelings for the young teacher, his students and colleagues constantly sought opportunities to bring them together, arranging for them to spend more time with each other.

After getting to know each other for a while, Thanh Huong and Tram Anh got married in 2001. The day she became pregnant with their first son coincided with the time her father fell seriously ill and passed away. With the family struggling to make ends meet, he suggested they move in with her mother for easier care. Recalling the time he was assigned to the 96th Artillery Brigade in Dong Nai , she single-handedly cared for their young child while managing household affairs so he could focus on his work. Their love, understanding, and shared experiences helped them overcome all difficulties and challenges.

Most recently, in April 2025, he participated in the "Effective Mass Mobilization" competition at the all-army level in Da Nang. Before the competition, he suffered from food poisoning and had to be hospitalized. Thanks to the attention of the leaders, commanders, and the entire team, especially the care and encouragement from his wife, he had the motivation to excel in the competition. Following the family tradition, his children are all well-behaved and academically successful. His eldest son, Hoang Ha Nam, is currently a student at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. His second son, Hoang Cuong, achieved the top score in the high school graduation exam for the A00 group in Son Tay town (now Son Tay ward, Hanoi).

With strong support from the home front and her own efforts, for 15 consecutive years, Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Thanh Huong has been commended by various levels for successfully and outstandingly completing her duties...
