Newly established cooperatives operating under the 2012 and 2023 Cooperative Laws have attracted over 400 billion VND in capital contributions from members to support production and business development, creating new jobs for 2,744 members. The boards of directors of these cooperatives are actively innovating management methods, exploiting the potential and strengths of the locality with key products that have high competitiveness to meet market demands. Most cooperatives in the area are gradually shifting labor from purely agricultural production to the production and processing of high-value agricultural products.
According to the assessment of the Provincial Cooperative Union, the effectiveness of the new cooperative model with fewer members is concentrated in specialized agricultural cooperatives such as: aquaculture, livestock, organic vegetable production, mushroom cultivation, fruit trees, etc. Production and business activities have yielded high efficiency, typical examples include: Dinh Moc Circular Agricultural Economic Cooperative (Giao Binh commune), Bon Thuan Agricultural Products Cooperative (Hien Khanh commune), Dong Son Medicinal Herbs Cooperative (Trung Son ward), La Son Beef and Breeding Cattle Cooperative (Binh My commune).
The Hai Dang Aquatic Products Cooperative (Ly Thuong Kiet Ward) currently has 3 OCOP products that meet 4-star standards. These products are linked to and distributed through supermarket chains such as WinMart and ABG. Each year, the cooperative supplies approximately 1.5 tons of fish paste, 15 tons of fish cakes, and 70 tons of live fish to the market.
Hoang Tra Cooperative (Liem Tuyen Ward), established in 2022, currently has 7 members who voluntarily contribute capital to develop clean agriculture with products such as lotus-infused tea, fresh and dried cordyceps mushrooms, lotus wine, cordyceps wine, herbal tea, etc. Currently, the cooperative has 13 products that have achieved OCOP 3-star rating.
The cooperative's focus on advanced processing not only enhances product quality and value but also contributes to building a modern and sustainable brand for local agricultural products. In 2024 and 2025, the cooperative's average profit is projected to reach approximately 500 million VND per year, creating jobs for about 10 permanent workers and 30 seasonal workers, primarily women and middle-aged individuals. Workers' incomes have increased over the years, currently reaching around 8 million VND per person per month.
At Minh Duc Herbal Cooperative (Nam Xang commune), specializing in the production of Cordyceps mushrooms, the cooperative applies digital technology to automatically manage mushroom production at each stage, thus ensuring optimal growth. The cooperative's mushroom products are currently recognized as 3-star OCOP products. Ms. Do Thi Phuong, Director of the cooperative, stated: "Thanks to the increased application of technology, improved quality, and updated designs, we have expanded our market both within and outside the province. The cooperative currently has 7 members, 5 of whom earn between 7-10 million VND per person per month, and the cooperative's revenue has increased over the years."
Currently, the activities of transport cooperatives mainly involve providing support services to members such as: vehicle registration, terminal and route allocation, credit contract transactions, tax obligations, and advising on and disseminating new regulations. In addition, the cooperatives also cooperate with relevant authorities to provide guidance on communication skills, improve customer service attitudes, and handle situations that arise during transportation.
Regarding transportation vehicles, members invest in, manage, and are responsible for their own operations. Many cooperatives are highly regarded for their performance, such as: Ly Nhan Passenger Transport Cooperative (Vinh Tru commune), Dong Tam Transport Cooperative (Binh My commune), and Hoa Binh Transport Cooperative (Nam Dinh ward).
Mr. Dinh Van Luan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hoa Binh Transport Cooperative, said: The cooperative currently has 128 members with nearly 100 vehicles. In recent years, cooperative members have focused on investing in and modernizing vehicles, upgrading service standards, contributing to improving service capacity and quality. Over the next 5 years (2020-2025), the cooperative's total revenue is expected to reach approximately 42 billion VND per year, with an average annual increase of 5-10%. Drivers' and service staff's incomes are stable and trending upwards. The cooperative fulfills all tax obligations and pays mandatory social insurance for its employees.
To replicate new-style cooperatives with fewer members, in recent years, all levels and sectors have regularly guided and assisted cooperatives, notably by perfecting the process of registering products that meet OCOP standards; supporting cooperatives in participating in trade promotion fairs; organizing professional training for cooperative managers; implementing many activities integrated with each program, and concretizing central and provincial policies to build cooperative models for production along the value chain.
Comrade Do Xuan Truong, Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Union, stated: In the coming time, the Provincial Cooperative Union will continue to effectively play its core role in disseminating information and mobilizing the establishment of new-style cooperatives with fewer members. It will strengthen training and capacity building for cooperative officials; actively support cooperatives in participating in trade promotion, product advertising and consumption, and digital transformation. The focus will be on advising and guiding production models, supporting infrastructure, machinery, and equipment, connecting raw material sources and product consumption, and accessing preferential capital to help cooperatives improve the quality and efficiency of production and business in line with development trends.
