Facing a team ranked 48th in the world , 11 places lower than the Vietnamese women's team on the FIFA rankings, Coach Mai Duc Chung's squad had a smooth start.

Just four minutes into the match, the Vietnamese women's team opened the scoring when Tuyet Dung's cross inadvertently turned into a shot with an unpredictable trajectory. Furthermore, the Uzbekistan goalkeeper misjudged the ball's trajectory, leading to the goal conceded.

With an early goal, the Vietnamese women's team played with more confidence. In the 6th minute, Hai Yen dribbled down the left wing into the Uzbekistan penalty area but her shot went wide of the post. In the 20th minute, following a well-coordinated attack in the midfield, Bich Thuy's shot hit the Uzbekistan goalkeeper. Then, in the 35th minute, the Vietnamese women's team scored to make it 2-0: From a pass from Bich Thuy on the right wing, Hai Yen successfully finished the shot.

With a bit more luck, the score could have been 3-0 in favor of Coach Mai Duc Chung's team.

Speaking after the match, coach Mai Duc Chung thanked the Chinese Football Association for their generosity and the warm welcome from the local organizers for the Vietnamese women's team. He also thanked the fans in Chongqing for coming to support both Vietnam and Uzbekistan.

HLV Mai Đức Chung vẫn còn khá tiếc nuối với trận đấu này

Coach Mai Duc Chung still has quite a few regrets about this match.

“We identified Uzbekistan as a strong competitor to Vietnam in the Asian region. Therefore, the team tried their best to compete and win. I regret that the Vietnamese women's team only had 10 days to prepare, so their play wasn't very fluid. If we had had a longer and better preparation period, we could have scored up to 4 goals against Uzbekistan, instead of winning 2-0,” said coach Mai Duc Chung.
