Following an impressive 4-0 victory against Malaysia U17 in the AFC U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers, Vietnam U17 has successfully secured a ticket to the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup Finals.
Coach Cristiano Roland shared his emotional thoughts on his players' performance. The Portuguese manager also revealed his plans following the successful qualifying campaign.
Roland shared his upcoming work plans: “I have met my requirements and completed my duties with the Vietnam U17 team. I will return to work at Hanoi FC to prepare the U19 team with 14 days before the National U19 Championship. I am happy, but tomorrow will be a new task.”

The Vietnam U17 team finished the qualifying round with 5 wins out of 5 matches, scoring 30 goals without conceding any, thus excellently topping Group C and securing a ticket to the 2026 AFC U17 Championship finals. With this achievement, the Vietnam U17 team also became the sixth Vietnamese team to qualify for the continental championship finals, after the National Women's team, the National U23 team, the National Men's Futsal team, and the National U20 Women's team.
Coach Roland also shared his thoughts on the U17 team's success in this tournament: “We deserve what we have achieved. We have shown that we are very strong. As I said from the beginning, our mindset has always been one game at a time. We plan, show the players the path, and they execute it.”

Expressing his pride in the players, he emphasized: “I am a very happy coach. My job is to teach and show them the way. And they have done it brilliantly. They are truly amazing. All my players deserve congratulations.”
Cristiano Roland emphasized his special affection for Vietnamese football: “I want the best for Vietnam, for Vietnamese football. I am here because of my love for Vietnam and its development.”
