Coach Roland leaves the U17 team

After the U17 team qualified for the Asian finals, coach Cristiano Roland left the team to return to work at the club.

After an impressive 4-0 victory over U17 Malaysia in the AFC U17 Championship Qualifiers, U17 Vietnam has successfully won a ticket to the 2026 AFC U17 Championship finals.

Coach Cristiano Roland shared his emotions about his players' performance. The Portuguese coach also revealed his plans after the successful qualifying tournament.

Mr. Roland shared about his upcoming work plan: “I achieved my requirements and completed my tasks at the Vietnam U17 team. I will return to work at Hanoi Club to prepare for the U19 team with 14 days before the National U19 tournament. I am happy, but tomorrow will be a new task.”

Vietnam U17 finished the qualifying round with 5 wins, scoring 30 goals without conceding any, thereby excellently topping Group C and winning a ticket to the 2026 AFC U17 Finals. With this achievement, Vietnam U17 also became the sixth Vietnamese team to register for the continental finals, after the National Women's Team, National U23, National Men's Futsal, and National Women's U20.

Coach Roland also shared about the success of the U17 in this tournament: “We deserve what we have achieved. We have shown that we are very strong. As I said from the beginning, our thinking is always one game at a time, one game at a time. Make a plan, show the players the way and they execute it.”

Expressing his pride in his players, he emphasized: “I am a very happy coach. My job is to teach and show them the way. And they have done an excellent job. They are really great. All my players deserve to be congratulated.”

Mr. Cristiano Roland emphasized his special affection for Vietnamese football: “I want the best for Vietnam, for Vietnamese football. I am here for the love and development of Vietnam.”
