Seemingly invigorated, Wilshere's team surged forward. In the 35th minute, Emilio Lawrence, the young talent on loan from Manchester City, displayed skillful footwork on the left wing before finishing with a delicate shot to equalize 1-1.

Building on their momentum, just before the end of the first half, Nahki Wells turned Wembley into his own personal stage. Receiving a sharp pass from Kai Naismith, the veteran striker controlled the ball with class before unleashing a thunderous shot into the near corner, completing Luton's comeback victory.

In the second half, despite Stockport's all-out attack and numerous dangerous moments in front of James Shea's goal, the lack of defensive personnel and Luton's composure ultimately decided the match.

Right in injury time, Nahki Wells once again shone to seal victory for Luton in the 2025/2026 EFL Trophy final, a cup competition for clubs from League One, League Two, and the academy teams of Premier League clubs.
