The application of technology in business operations helps household businesses participate in digital transformation, increase revenue, and conduct business effectively in the 4.0 era. Solutions using digital platforms, electronic payments, electronic invoices, logistics, and management tools are becoming key to helping household businesses expand their markets, improve operational efficiency, and enhance competitiveness in the new context.
The positive changes brought about by the digitalization wave have been vividly demonstrated through the real-life stories of business owners. Ms. Nguyen Hong My, the owner of a grocery store in Chau Thanh commune, admitted that manual management methods previously often led to errors and data mix-ups. However, this "bottleneck" has been resolved since she adopted technology. "Thanks to the management software and QR code payment method, all orders are now processed efficiently. Customers pay quickly, and I can easily track my daily revenue," Ms. My happily stated.
Mr. Tran Huy Dung, the owner of an ornamental fish business in Giong Rieng commune, found opportunities for business growth thanks to the digital space. “Previously, I only sold directly at the store, with customers mainly being locals, and orders weren't many. Being guided on selling on social media platforms helped the store reach more new customers. Since creating a fan page and posting products on online platforms, the number of customers from all over has skyrocketed, leading to a more stable and prosperous income for my family,” Mr. Dung shared.
In reality, many businesses currently have a need for digital transformation but still face difficulties in accessing digital tools, digital skills, and implementation resources. A segment of businesses still rely on manual record-keeping, personal experience, and established customer relationships. This widens the gap between traditional business models and new consumer trends.
According to Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong, digital transformation for household businesses is not about digitizing old processes or providing additional software, but about helping people change their management and sales methods and create new business models in the digital environment. To achieve tangible results, the digital transformation of household businesses must stem from real needs and create clear benefits in business operations such as increased revenue, reduced operating costs, and transparent cash flow management.
In recent times, the province has actively supported business households in digital transformation through a collaborative model of "State - Enterprise - Business Household". State management agencies play a guiding and supportive role in implementation; technology enterprises provide digital platforms; and business households are the central beneficiaries. This supportive activity is a practical step to concretize the major policies of the Party and State on the development of science, technology, innovation, national digital transformation, and private sector development; and at the same time, realize one of the breakthrough solutions for developing the digital economy, contributing to promoting local economic growth.
In assessing the long-term vision, the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the support objective is not limited to optimizing immediate profits for individual stores and households. The process of supporting households in digital transformation contributes to data formation, strengthening digital infrastructure, and creating platforms for new growth models in the locality in the future. With the goal of bringing the value added of the digital economy to 8% of GRDP by 2026, the province is focusing all resources on promoting digital transformation, with the shift and connection of the household economic sector into the digital space being a crucial solution to expand the foundation for sustainable growth in the locality.
