In this match, coach Nguyen Duc Thang included Hoang Duc in the starting lineup. The midfielder also played the full 90 minutes on the field.

Previously, Hoang Duc suffered a left ankle injury (anterior and posterior talofibular ligament edema, posterior talofibular ligament edema, soft tissue edema around the left ankle) and required more than 3 weeks of treatment. Speaking after the match, Viettel's coach Nguyen Duc Thang said: "My team and I had two weeks of preparation before the first match. Actually, winning against Hanoi FC doesn't say much, as the opponent was missing many national team and foreign players. What I'm pleased about is the players' good fighting spirit and desire to win. The performance was somewhat satisfactory, but there were still many inaccurate passes and final touches."

Regarding Hoang Duc's return, Coach Thang added: "Duc's physical condition is only about 90-0.5%. Today he somewhat showed the qualities of a star player. However, because his form is not yet at its peak, he hasn't met my expectations. In the lineup, I want Hoang Duc to play more discreetly to escape the marking of opponents and play freely to showcase his strengths."
