Regret for leaving Information Technology

VnExpressVnExpress19/10/2023

I used to like Information Technology, but I was worried that there were too many people studying this field, and I was afraid that I would be unemployed later, so I chose Architecture. Now I feel like it's not suitable for me.

I am a sophomore, starting to get more exposure to specialized subjects. I find it difficult to breathe, especially with hand-drawn projects because I have not learned to draw before.

In high school, I almost only knew how to study and plow through books, so I neglected to choose a major. At that time, I liked Information Technology and things related to computers. However, I saw many people studying this major, afraid that they would become saturated and unemployed, so based on my family's suggestion, I chose Architecture at a school that did not require a drawing aptitude test.

I also feel a bit regretful because my high school graduation exam scores, ability assessment and academic records could have helped me get into most of the top schools, but in the end I chose Architecture. Actually, I am not too weak when studying this major. I have the ability to think, arrange layouts and spaces, but my drawing ability is limited so I feel I am at a disadvantage compared to my friends.

I decided to continue studying Architecture, but how can I get rid of the thought that I am not suitable for it every night before going to bed? At times like that, I feel very sad and confused. Should I start over?
