Regretting leaving Information Technology

VnExpressVnExpress18/10/2023

I used to like Information Technology, but I was worried that there were too many people studying it and I might be unemployed afterward, so I chose Architecture. Now I realize it's not a good fit for me.

I'm a second-year student, starting to get more exposure to my major subjects. I find it difficult to cope, especially with hand-drawn projects, because I haven't had any drawing lessons before.

During high school, I was almost solely focused on studying and burying myself in books, so I neglected choosing a major. At that time, I liked Information Technology and anything related to computers. However, seeing so many people studying this field, I feared it would become saturated and lead to unemployment. So, based on my family's suggestion, I chose Architecture at a school that didn't require aptitude tests in drawing.

I also regret that my high school graduation exam scores, aptitude test scores, and academic transcript could have helped me get into most top universities, but in the end, I chose Architecture. Actually, I'm not too weak in this field. I have good analytical and spatial planning skills; it's just that my drawing ability is limited, so I feel I'm at a disadvantage compared to my peers.

I've decided to continue studying Architecture, but how can I escape the thought that I'm not suited for it every night before bed? At times like these, I feel very sad and lost. Should I start over?
