From witnessing the "boundary between life and death"
The first impression of Mr. Vui is his friendliness and enthusiasm. The opportunity to volunteer to donate blood was by chance. In 2002, when he was only 23 years old, the young man Truong Van Vui was taking care of a relative at the hospital. That day, the whole hospital room was filled with tension because a patient was in critical condition and needed an urgent blood transfusion.

The doctor kept looking for a suitable blood type. Family members ran around, their eyes filled with worry and helplessness. “At that time, I was also very worried. I had never donated blood before, so I didn’t know if it would be okay, but then I thought, if I didn’t help, the other person might not make it,” Mr. Vui recalled.
After a few minutes of hesitation, he decided to register to donate blood to save a life. As the blood flowed out of his body, sweat poured out of fear, but his heart was filled with a strange feeling. The next day, the doctor announced that the patient was out of danger. That night, Mr. Vui could not sleep.
“For the first time, I clearly felt that I had contributed to saving the life of a person. The feeling was indescribable,” said Vui with a gentle smile. From that moment, he told himself: if my body is healthy, why not continue to give. So for the past 23 years, he has regularly participated in voluntary blood donation.
From local campaigns to urgent calls from the hospital, whenever he hears “someone needs blood”, he rushes off. Rain or shine, or late at night, he has never refused. Because for him, every time he donates blood, he helps someone escape “death’s door”, making life more meaningful.
To the fire Inspire to spread
In the early 2000s, the voluntary blood donation movement was still unfamiliar to many people. Many people were afraid of "losing blood and strength", even thinking that donating blood was... dangerous. In the role of Secretary of the Hamlet Youth Union at that time, Mr. Vui persistently knocked on each house's door to mobilize, talk, explain, and persuade.
He not only mobilized through words, but also through his own actions and personal demonstration: always healthy, energetic, and optimistic after each blood donation. Up to now, many people and young people in the commune have actively responded to the voluntary blood donation movement.
Thanks to that, each blood donation session becomes a festival - from cadres, civil servants, teachers to farmers and bricklayers, everyone actively participates in donating blood to save lives. Mr. Vui confided: "Seeing so many people respond makes me very happy. Having one more blood donor means one more chance of life for the patient."
Even though he has donated blood more than 100 times, Mr. Vui has not thought about stopping. Thanks to his persistent and practical contributions, he has received many certificates of merit from the central and local levels. “I just think simply: someone needs blood to live, if I can give it, I should give it” - he shared.
Mr. Vui’s example of enthusiasm and responsibility has inspired and helped the voluntary blood donation movement spread, saving the lives of many patients in time. Each drop of blood donated is a noble act, sowing the seeds of love and regenerating hope for many lives…
