Of these, brackish and saltwater aquaculture has the largest farming area with 44,405 hectares (reaching 57.11% of the plan), and the most widely farmed species is tiger shrimp with 34,511 hectares (reaching 75.02% of the plan).

According to assessments, the progress of aquaculture stocking this year is faster than the same period last year, due to farmers accumulating more experience, increasing their proactiveness in deciding to expand farming areas; in addition, the positive production results from last year have created motivation for farmers to reinvest and expand the scale of farming. However, since the beginning of the year, some farming areas have experienced disease outbreaks in aquaculture, resulting in losses in 297.18 hectares of ponds and tanks, affecting tiger shrimp and whiteleg shrimp aged 15-60 days, mainly hepatopancreatic necrosis, white spot disease, and red body disease.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment advises farmers to strengthen the implementation of good care and management measures for the pond environment, closely monitor the growth of farmed aquatic animals, especially for key species and aquatic animals raised in cages and rafts on rivers and canals, in order to minimize disease and losses.
