Many farmers growing sedge in Trung Ngai commune said that at this time, sedge is in its main harvesting season, and the price of sedge has increased sharply compared to the same period last year, reaching 19-22 thousand VND/kg for grade 1.

Ms. Vo Thi Hong (Phu Nong hamlet), who owns nearly 2 acres of land for growing sedge, shared: “Last year at this time, grade 1 sedge was about 14,000 VND/kg, but this year it's up to about 20,000 VND/kg. The season is favorable, the weather is good, so the sedge is beautiful and the harvest is abundant. With this price, growers are making a profit, so everyone is happy.”
According to the People's Committee of Trung Ngai commune, the entire commune currently has over 111 hectares of sedge cultivation, with a yield of 0.8-1 ton per hectare. This is one of the main crops, associated with the traditional sedge core weaving craft of the locality. Maintaining and developing the raw material area not only serves production but also contributes to creating jobs for more than 2,000 workers, with an average income of over 3 million VND per person per month.
In the coming period, the locality will continue to focus on maintaining and developing the traditional craft of growing and processing sedge, while stabilizing the raw material supply area. At the same time, it will encourage people to apply advanced farming techniques, improve product quality, gradually build brands, and expand the consumer market.
