Over 500 martial arts masters compete in the land of martial arts.

TPO - On the evening of August 4th, at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province, in coordination with the Vietnam Sports Department and the Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts Federation, inaugurated the 34th National Traditional Martial Arts Championship.

According to the Organizing Committee, this year's tournament attracted 29 delegations from 21 provinces, cities, and sectors with strong traditional martial arts movements nationwide.

The tournament featured over 500 athletes competing in two categories: martial arts and sparring. The martial arts category was divided into three age groups: 17-40 years old, 41-50 years old, and 51-60 years old; the sparring category had one age group: 17-40 years old. The tournament took place from August 5th to 12th.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich, Vice Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that the National Traditional Martial Arts Championship is a major event for those who love traditional martial arts from all over the country; it is an opportunity to honor the beautiful traditional cultural values ​​of the nation, and at the same time promote the movement for physical fitness.

The tournament also provides an opportunity for athletes to interact, learn, and improve their professional skills, contributing to the development of Vietnamese traditional martial arts to a new level.

Currently, the martial arts villages and clubs of Binh Dinh province are still actively operating, with tens of thousands of students and masters training at more than 200 martial arts schools and clubs inside and outside the province. Binh Dinh's traditional martial arts are not only thriving domestically but have also spread to many countries around the world .

On March 31, 2025, the Government agreed to submit a dossier to UNESCO requesting consideration and recognition of Binh Dinh Traditional Martial Arts as a Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
