The opening event of the festival was the "Conquering Hon Me Peak" provincial cross-country race, attracting over 400 athletes from across the province, creating a vibrant and exciting atmosphere. Nguyen Thanh Lam, a first-time participant from Chau Thanh commune who achieved the highest result, shared: "Participating in the race within the framework of the Phan Thi Rang festival made me very happy and excited. The lively atmosphere and the encouragement from everyone gave me extra motivation to conquer the race and achieve a good result."

According to Nguyen Trung Kien, Deputy Director of the Cultural, Sports and Broadcasting Center of Hon Dat commune: “This year, the Phan Thi Rang festival has unique features and is different from previous years. This is the first year the festival has been held after the commune merger, so it is on a larger scale with many diverse activities. The Ba Hon National Historical and Scenic Site has recently been renovated, with spacious and well-maintained grounds contributing to a solemn atmosphere for the festival, better meeting the needs of the people and tourists for sightseeing and cultural activities.”
The festival also included activities such as an exhibition of documentary images about Hon Dat; introduction of traditional crafts and experiential activities with the theme "Journey of Heritage Wheels"; book display and introduction, mobile vending; display and introduction of OCOP products and typical rural industrial products in the province and Hon Dat commune; mobile film screenings of "Red Rain," "Hon Dat," etc.
From January 6th, at the Ba Hon National Historical and Scenic Site, the Provincial Library organized a book exhibition and mobile library vehicle display, providing a reading space for visitors. Ms. Nguyen Thi Men, Head of the Technical and Professional Department of the Provincial Library, said: “The library has prepared over 7,000 books with content such as documents about the Hero of the People's Armed Forces Phan Thi Rang; local history and culture of Hon Dat; An Giang geography; culture, history, geography, literature, life skills, comics, popular science... to serve readers.” The Provincial Library displayed art books in a series recreating important milestones in the life, revolutionary career, and heroic sacrifice of the Hero of the People's Armed Forces Phan Thi Rang, contributing to spreading historical values and educating the people, especially the younger generation, about traditions.
Spreading the spirit of gratitude
The People's Committee of Hon Dat commune organized folk games such as throwing balls into baskets, kicking soccer into goals, and performing health-promoting dances; held an evening of traditional music and dance performances; and served free vegetarian food to the people. Ms. Ngo Thi Hue, a resident of Hon Dat commune, said: "This is the fifth consecutive year that I and my volunteer group have served vegetarian food to the people and tourists attending the festival. I hope to contribute a small part to make the festival warmer, spread the spirit of sharing, and help everyone feel at ease participating in the activities in a solemn and compassionate atmosphere." It is expected that this year, Ms. Hue's volunteer group will serve more than 10,000 bowls of vegetarian noodles.

From Thanh My Tay commune, the Tu Tuol volunteer group made their first appearance at the Phan Thi Rang festival, serving free vegetarian pancakes to locals and tourists, contributing to spreading kindness during the festival. “I heard about the life and heroic sacrifice of Heroine Phan Thi Rang, so I cherished the desire to participate in the festival and contribute to serving the people and tourists. I hope to contribute to honoring this steadfast heroine, spreading and educating the younger generation about patriotic traditions and national pride,” Mr. Cao Van Tuol expressed. To serve the festival, the Tu Tuol volunteer group mobilized 70 people, prepared 215 frying pans, 800 kg of rice, 1,000 coconuts, etc.
The festival is not only an occasion to commemorate and pay tribute to the Hero of the People's Armed Forces Phan Thi Rang, but also a cultural celebration that unites the community and awakens pride in the revolutionary traditions of the homeland and people of Hon Dat. Through a series of vibrant and practical activities, the festival contributes to spreading historical values and fostering patriotism in today's generations.
