(CTO) - On the afternoon of July 26, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City held a meeting with the Can Tho Sports Delegation to attend the 7th Mekong Delta Sports Festival - Hau Giang in 2023.

Attending this year's Mekong Delta Sports Festival, Can Tho Sports Delegation has 365 members, including 10 leaders, 59 coaches and 296 athletes. Can Tho Sports Delegation participated in 23 sports including beach volleyball, Taekwondo, Boxing, bodybuilding, Kickboxing, traditional martial arts, Canoeing, football, Judo, weightlifting, tennis, chess, athletics, badminton, Cross Country, Table Tennis, Jujitsu, Kurash, Billards, Vovinam, Swimming, Karate, Basketball. The target of Can Tho sports delegation is to achieve 54 gold medals, 21 silver medals, 35 bronze medals, striving to be in the top 3 ranks of the whole delegation.

The 2023th Mekong Delta Sports Festival in 15, hosted by Hau Giang province, took place on July 7. This year's congress gathered more than 2.200 athletes to compete in 27 subjects, in which the earliest competition was beach volleyball, organized by Kien Giang province from July 11 to 13. At the end of beach volleyball, Can Tho athletes won 7 gold and 1 silver, topping the team. The remaining sports will take place in August, September and October respectively, with basketball being the last competition, taking place on October 1 in Hau Giang.

Can Tho was authorized by the Organizing Committee of the Congress to host two sports, football and Jujitsu.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Truong Cong Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that in order to achieve the set targets, athletes need to focus, be confident, and strive to surpass themselves. , strictly follow the professional direction of the coach. Team leaders, coaches and carers give the best care to athletes during the time of competition at the Games.
