According to WindowsLatest , rumors suggest that Windows 12 appears to be a leap forward from current generations, as it is said to focus on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and even support for a dedicated Copilot node, as Microsoft recently mentioned.
Is the major Windows update this year Windows 11 24H2 instead of Windows 12?
The problem is that Windows 12 may never appear, at least not in 2024. The latest information indicates that, according to Microsoft's proposed schedule, the update corresponding to the expected Windows 12 release is officially called Windows 11 2024 Update, or Windows 11 24H2.
This is further confirmed in the documentation regarding the name of this update released by HP on the occasion of the recent launch of the new Spectre product line. The document reveals that Windows 11 will receive a major update to be compatible with Wi-Fi 7 and Copilot 2.0. According to HP, the full potential of Wi-Fi 7 will be unlocked if Windows 11 2024 is combined with an Intel Core or Core Ultra CPU and a Wi-Fi 7-compatible router. Among these, Windows 11 2024 is also known as Windows 24H2.
Although everything is still just speculation, especially since it's taken from a computer manufacturer's partner document rather than Microsoft's, it can't be considered an official announcement. To get the most accurate answer, users will have to wait until the end of the year to find out if there will be a major generational leap like what happened between Windows 11 and Windows 10.
