Hungary finds new gas supply source.

On May 22, following talks with the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced that the two sides had signed an agreement on the purchase and sale of natural gas.

In a video posted on Facebook, Orban said: "Over the past year, we have come to know that Qatar is a country of paramount importance to Europe. The European economy has been significantly offset by gas supplies from Qatar following cuts in Russian supplies..."

We have agreed to cooperate on energy, and we will also buy gas from Qatar. Having more opportunities is always better."

According to Orban, Qatar – like Hungary – is ready to mediate between Ukraine and Russia.
